Then why isn't Kenny Jacket or Steve Bruce interested in playing him! These are professional Football Club Managers and neither of them can find a place in their teams for Sagbo. Can you tell me exactly WHO is going "to get forward" when we have only one striker.
By my reckoning you're still too high on appearances and low on goals. EDIT: Soccerbase is wrong on the subject of his Monaco appearances - now I can see how you get to 51 (league appearances only). His 19 Monaco appearances are a tad misleading, though, given only one of them was a start and he got a mere 381 minutes on the field. Anyway, beyond the stats I can't say I rate Sagbo particularly highly, although he's far from being the worst striker in our Premier League life. Right now, we need help in that area unless Jelly is back next week and firing like he was before.
Firstly Jacket used him for about 70 minutes, how do you expect any player to prove his worth in this time. Secondly from what I have read Jacket didn't play him in his normal position, which just was foreign to him. As Far as Bruce is concerned, this is one point which I think he has found out that Aluko and Ben Arfa does not work well with Hernandez, and Sagbo from what I have seen attending the games, could be a foil for Hernandez. Deano also feels the same see HDM article link below. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Yann...ng-new-lease/story-24538689-detail/story.html Secondly depending of cause who is actually playing, the likes of Robertson/Elmo/Diame can get forward, which not only means we are not defending to deep, but also get them into an area of the pitch whereby the can get balls into the box.
Yes, I understand where you are coming from John and what you are saying and I also understand your logic which may or may not work in a Football Manager game but both Bruce and Jacket are doing this for real and together with their respective advisers/tacticians/selectors have found nothing in Sagbo to make him a first team player. Bruce has a huge problem with plenty of ammunition but with nothing to fire it with. Opposition Managers and their staff have done their homework on Hernandez and have practically negated him. This is Premier League football and Managers at this level are nobody's fools and are taking advantage of our dilemma just now. I honestly cannot see any place for Sagbo in the current set-up.
Right, so you purposefully missed out his appearances and goals for Evian to suit your agenda. Tosser.
Steve Bruce just recalled him, so obviously feels we need him, or he'd have left another club footing the bill for a chunk of his wages. Leaving the club we signed him from out of your stats, because he scored goals for them, is pathetic. We have a major problem with Jelavic out, Hernandez needs support and Sagbo is our only option to try and give him some, so how about supporting Bruce in his attempt to remedy the issue, rather making up ridiculous stats to support your anti-Sagbo obsession?
There's a lot more to his game than goals too. People often struggle with that consideration for a forward, but he's often dragging defenders out wide or is holding up play for the midfield to join the attack. He is a good footballer and is good enough for us. I know this because I've seen him play several times in person and have seen his movement, work rate and guile on and off the ball - something that TV viewers don't always get to see.
I totally agree with you. Bergkamp didn't score a lot goals in the last 5 years of his career, Sheringham didn't have greatest record for England but because they brought the best out of the attacking players around them they where picked. I'm not comparing Sagbo to either Sheringham or Bergkamp.
I don`t personally think that Sagbo will bring the answers some think he will, but as long as the guy pulls on the amber and black of our club i`ll be rooting for him, as some have eluded to perhaps a spell at wolves has brought it home to him that he needs to knuckle down here and put his heart and soul into it, although i doubt it, i sincerely hope he proves me wrong and becomes just the foil that Hernandez is missing
If you read my post correctly (you can read can you or is someone else reading it for you) you will see that I HAVE included his scoring record with Evian and Monaco B. Evian and Monaco B are not "top-level" so I used the stats from his appearances with Monaco, Hull City and Wolves where he has scored twice in 51 appearances. Good Gawd almighty, Emile Heskey scored more than that! I have no 'agenda' on Sagbo it's you guy's who are trying to make him into something that he isn't and never will be!
First of all Madge, Steve Bruce has no option but to call him back. Secondly, I did NOT leave out his goal scoring record with Evian and Monaco B - please read my post again without your Lambretta goggles on. I am NOT anti Sagbo and I have had this discussion before over many years with supporters of Altidore, Graham, Simpson, Aluko, Proschwitz and McLean all trying to tell me that they just needed a chance. If Sagbo comes out wearing a Hull City shirt then he has my support and I hope he can 'come good' and either score goals or supply them but this will surely be his last chance as if he doesn't impress then we will have seen the last of him after the January window opens. Please stop taking my posts out of context to suit your argument.
He never started a game for Monaco, so I wouldn't include them at all, he went through the youth academy and played for their youth team, but he never started a game for their first team, he just made seven sub appearances in total(the numbers on wiki are bollocks). He scored 10 in 31 in his first season at Evian in Ligue 1, He scored 6 in 35 in his second season with Evian in League 1 and though Ligue 1 is not the Premier League it's not the SPL either and he did score against the likes of PSG. It would be more accurate to say he's scored 18 in 95 games of top flight football in his three full seasons to date. He's not prolific, he's not really good enough for the Premier League and I expect he'll be flogged when we can find a buyer and a replacement, but he's the best option we have at the moment and if Jelavic isn't fit, I expect him to be in the squad on Sunday, so I do expect Bruce will find a use for him(he hasn't recalled him for nothing). Edit: Wiki might not be bollocks, Soccerbase may be bollocks instead, though he still only ever started one game for Monaco.
Marin O'Neil - a professional football club manager - wasnt interested in playing Elmohammady. He's probably been in our top 10 signings of the past 20 years.
Well, you are splitting hairs there 'Bum' as Martin O'Neil's tactics at that time wouldn't suit Elmo. He had a unique style of play and brought in players that suited it. Elmo was a great signing and has shown his adaptability but nobody has come knocking on our door for Sagbo.
Apart from Wolves, obviously. In fact, other than the sale of Boyd, nobody came knocking for any of our players other than Sagbo. Edit: I just remembered, Wigan came in for Figgy and he's our worst player.
No I'm not. Elmo can play right midfield as we've all seen. And what is unique about O'Neill's 'style of play'? He's the most bog-standard tactical manager I've ever seen. The simple fact is he just didnt rate him.
Managers make mistakes all the time, just because they manage for a living, it doesn't mean they're infallible. Bruce has made some terrible substitution decisions this season, Newcastle and West Brom particularly. In fact, in our second Premier League season, I don't think Brownie picked our best eleven for a single game.
A bit harsh here OLM. Should all of our players who are not good enough for the Premier League get a damn good thrashing?
