You may think it is unlikely but AP mentioned South Stand closing last night if attendances in it fell any further. Capacity of East and West stands, including Upper West is 17,000 so any games other than ?Rovers could easily be accommodated. You can see the financial justification for closing stands given that one bus of away fans in a stand means that there has to be the same number of stewards in the aiskwways and vomotories as if the stand was full under ground regulations.
But wouldn't the extra cost of opening the Upper West just cancel the savings made by closing the south? Having said that if attendances continue to fall then its not really an issue as all fans could be accommodated in the Lower West and East.
I was saying that any of FC's crowds except the Rovers games could be fitted in with both the North and South stands shut so opening West Upper would be less than those two. A good job for FC that they don't have to pay the amount the police extort out of City.
I'll admit he talks the talk, and is quite engaging and convincing when he's talking, however, the recent slide in numbers at FC games points towards the fact whatever he is doing, its not successful. Despite a mostly captive audience. Its not like FC are battling for "fans" who support clubs from other cities is it? On the other hand, our owner and club seems awesome at pissing some sections of fans off, but, we are not seeing a decline in attendance at our games and we're still enjoying more success than the bastardy rugby clubs.
You are right there, some friends of ours, 5 in the family, have been to watch Hull FC for as long as I can remember, they have all changed now to watch City.
Hardly, more like driving away those who stood by the club during hard times and replacing them with Premier League spectators who will be gone like a shot when those hard times return.
Winning the battle against rugby league was never really an issue, but we've lost more season ticket holders than FC have this past year, despite our best ever season. We've replaced most of them with new season ticket holders, possibly, in part, because of the poor form of FC. Who knows. What is a shame, is that if we hadn't lost 3,000 season ticket holders due to our owners madness, we could have quite possibly seen gates this season top 30,000(so long as our owner stopped sulking and expanded the ground, obviously).
Effcee fans who pay on day won't go to TV games unlike City fans who will sell out against Spurs, The KC is only half full when Hull are on TV but the pubs in Hull are packed with FC fans what's all that about?
Not sure if it's true but I'm sure I read somewhere they have only sold 4,000 season tickets for this season.
It's about 4500 now, but there's still another 3 weeks to go before they go up which is when the majority will buy. I reckon that the final figure will be about 7000 which is lower than you'd hope but if the team start performing the crowds will soon pick up.
That bit is spot on Let's hope our new owners will get that sorted out first of all.. I would be glad to see the Allams leave IF that would be the case Add in cheap or free tickets we may get 34,000 gates
Given the chance AP would flog it asap but who'd buy a rugby league team unless you're a loaded fan? That's the only way rovers have survived, hudgell spending money on his passion! But I can imagine AP is as passionate about FC as he was Derby.
Free tickets !!! Ooh yeah that would go down well with people who have scrimped to buy a pass. 34,000 is a pipe dream for a City thus size.
Cities the size of ours getway bigger attendances, up to double ours, make the seats available and price them right and we could easily sell out over 30k.
Sunderland only has a population of 175,000 plus they have Newcastle and Boro close by and average 40,000. Derby has a population of 250,000 average 30,000 and have Forest, Nott's County, Leicester and Stoke close by. If the pricing is right and marketing is right we could get 30,000 at least.
