Yep great ad. When I first watched it I thought they would **** it up with something over cheesy at the end.
It was a brilliantly well done advert. Some people, including my sister, are complaining that they're profiteering off the deaths during the war. I don't buy into that cynicism, I think it's just a simple and touching commemoration of one of the few acts of humanity in a horrific war, the fact that it's a supermarket doing the advert is just coincidental. Plus, Sainsbury's has had a partnership with the Royal British Legion for years, so it's not like they're jumping on the bandwagon now.
Exactly. It's 100 years since the start of the Great War, what better way for Sainsbury's to commemorate it by producing an advert that remembers one of the most poignant and heart warming moments in history.
Watching Children in Need, a bunch of kids choirs singing I'll Stand By You by the Pretenders (great song, horrible video).... I like the fact that they've changed the words of the chorus to be grammatically correct.
Children In Need just made my decision to go to bed, much easier. No Saints tomorrow but a first 'working matchday' for me at Southend United. Exciting times...
Children in Need pisses me off. All these celebs wanting you to donate who more then likely donate **** all and get paid to appear on it.
Look Children in Need is simple. Just decide how much you want to give and then divide it between Save the Children and Dr Barnados. Send these organisations a cheque each and the job is done. That way you aren't boosting the ego's of the self promoting individuals who appear on the TV.
Just on Sky. The Premier League have donated a full size artificial football pitch to Belgium as a memorial to the Christmas Day Truce where opposing soldiers played a football match. A nice memorial...useful to the locals rather than another monument.
That's nice for Belgium and looks good for The Premier League. Bit odd they aren't doing a similler thing for this country though, with our childhood obesciety problems and inability to produce quantities of decent footballers.
Tbf, I've had a direct debit with Save the Children since 2008. I see your point though. And I wonder how many of them waive/donate their appearance fee. I bet it's not that high. S Club 7 were awesome though. #12again
