I used to have loads of vinyl but don't own a single record or CD now. All on a Laptop and hard drive.

My lad is getting his first stereo for Christmas, I've helped him pick it out.

Whilst not a vinyl junkie, I do find a 'coldness' to digital modes. All of those bumps and scratches just add to the atmosphere. I've still got a copy of River Deep Mountain High I scratched falling over on a drunken return from the pub - so it all adds to the experience when I hear it today!

PS where's the deck?

No need for a deck, he's 15 and wouldn't know what to do with a record. :)

That system is all about the sound though I'm hoping he loves it and wants to expand it and then one day he may want the deck.
