I used to have loads of vinyl but don't own a single record or CD now. All on a Laptop and hard drive. My lad is getting his first stereo for Christmas, I've helped him pick it out. please log in to view this image I've talked him into the walnut speakers though, well nice.
Whilst not a vinyl junkie, I do find a 'coldness' to digital modes. All of those bumps and scratches just add to the atmosphere. I've still got a copy of River Deep Mountain High I scratched falling over on a drunken return from the pub - so it all adds to the experience when I hear it today! PS where's the deck?
No need for a deck, he's 15 and wouldn't know what to do with a record. That system is all about the sound though I'm hoping he loves it and wants to expand it and then one day he may want the deck.
