It seems Lee and Whelpdale both had medicals last week so the delay in Lee signing is a concern. It appears somethings gone wrong.
I suppose it's essential that we've got at least one of them in Whelpdale (who I would say is the more creative out of the two) but even though I would love for Lee to come, I don't think it would be the end of the world if we didn't get him. At the moment we have 8 midfielders, soon to be 7 hopefully if Maher gets the boot, and if we sign Lee and another winger it could mean people like Jack Payne and Rooney could miss out which would dent their prospects at developing into better players as I believe this season is a defining one for those 2 plus others. From what the Wycombe fans have said about Montrose, he could easily fill Lee's boots.
Certainly hope Lee signs, but expect someone has come in for him at last min, hence no announcement yet! Maybe GFC holding back announcement until this week and spreading out the good news (Good PR)?
Get Lee in and show Maher the door! Lee was a rock in midfield with Whelpdale and him looking a class above the rest of the league and they weren't even match fit! The addition of a wide man/striker would make this season one to look forward to!
