Ajax, Barca and AZ. Look at the names and their reputation in their respective leagues. They may not have won for a while; if they had, would they have appointed LVG? Surely there wouldn't have been a job available But they're not exactly the poorest unknown teams in their leagues are they Same goes for Mourinho with Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real. Rafa winning the Spanish title with Valencia breaking the strangle hold that Barca and Real had is more impressive yet you probably don't rate him at all. Fergie at Aberdeen too.
There's so much nonsense in your post that it needs to be broken down. Ajax and Barca are big clubs domestically. AZ have won two titles in their history. Difficult to group all three together. Why not, he has a track record of winning titles. Would those clubs have been better off going for a manager with no experience of winning titles? Like Moyes! Wasn't that the criticism leveled at United when they hired Moyes! Liverpool may not have choked the title last season if the manager hadn't been a novice and tactically naive, who knows? Really? Sometimes managers leave a club having been a title winner in the past season or two. Fergie, Guardiola, Mourinho are recent examples of managers who left as winners. Ancelotti is a recent example of a manger who left having won a title the season before he was sacked. When they leave they need to be replaced. Didn't Dalglish leave as a reigning league champion? If it's that easy to take over one of the big clubs in any league and canter to the league title then why doesn't every manager do it? How many top kwality managers have failed to win the league with Liverpool. Why did AZ fail to win the Dutch league for 27 years if it's that simple to do? Why did Barca and Ajax go 4 years without a league title? The managers who failed to win the league in those intermediate four years must have been absolute f**tards if it took a fraud to do it and who the hell was managing the opposition when Ajax and Barca did win the title again! I'll leave Bodanki and Katie to debate with you on that one. Rafa breaking the stranglehold of Barca and Real was an amazing achievement. He was a very good manager, he just went a bit loopy at a crucial time for Liverpool.
Make angry, stupid comment Cringe when stupidity is pointed out Claim to have been fishing Zip up shirt A successful morning for Skylarker.
You completely missed the point I wasn't saying they wouldn't appoint LVG because he wasn't good enough. I was saying they wouldn't have appointed him because they would have had a already successful manager in place. Fair enough, managers decide to move on but that wasn't the case was it Can't be arsed with the rest because your talking bollox LVG is a very good manager but like with Mourinho and Guardiola, until they do it with a unfashionable club they will never be world class IMO.
Bayern appointed LVG having just missed out on the league and having won it the season before that. LVG won the title with AZ. The second title in their history after a 27 year gap. Which part of that are you struggling with? I think the problem is you're trying to back up Zippy's very illogically constructed claim that LVG is a fraud simply because he's had a shaky start with United and completely ignoring everything he's done in his career previously. Resurrected big clubs? Check Won with unfashionable club? Check Taken over successful team? Check They can't all be successful visionaries like Rodgers.
Angry comment? Not sure about you, but the internet doesn't make me angry - I take it from that comment it does that to you? Cringe? When, where, who, why? Zip up shirt? I take it you mean the picture where I was wearing a Lacoste sport polo shirt that had a Zip instead of buttons, one of my favourite polo's to be honest. I'd love it if you had the bottle and actually posted a picture of yourself - I'm guessing a spotty teenager with a bedroom full of 'Goal' magazines? Not far off am I?? Successful morning? I've had better, because a tadpole net was enough for you.
So now you are agreeing with Sky that he took over already successful teams...? Even Roy Hodgson and Steve McLaren won titles in **** leagues
Here you go Shteve (meant to be Steve, but he can't spell his own name) Fill your boots, or don't you have the bottle? http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/271485-Have-You-Got-The-Bottle P..S. For some reason my pic on my Mac is showing up as a blue box with a question mark in it?? Gerrez can you confirm that's it's just my end and you can see the picture?
Long time since I was a spotty teenager, unfortunately! If you want to see pictures of other men then there are specialist websites and forums for that kind of thing.
You need to set out your criteria of what makes a good manager as it's very specific. Mourinho isn't anything special as he's only won titles with big teams. LVG isn't anything special as he's only won titles with big teams in a slump, big teams that were still in good shape and an unfashionable team in a **** league. As I type this I notice Brendan Rodgers' pyschotic stare in your signature.
How do you know? Anyway it's a fun thread, those that haven't posted are obviously ugly slimy grease balls.
Having looked back, I assume by "zippy" you mean Sky? Least with your name you only got it slightly wrong
...or maybe just have more sense than to post pictures of their grid on a football forum, just a thought like.
Nice angry double bite. Barcelona also had their worst season in their history under LVG: near the relegation zone, 20 points off the top by January 2003. He won two Ligas in a two-horse race. And one Bundesliga in a one-horse race.
Katie's awake! Sorry to piss on your chips Katie but he actually won La Liga in a one horse race as Barca won it by 9 points and 11 points. Basically he blew Real and the others out of the water despite the fact that his one horse hadn't won the league for 4 seasons. I'll give you the fact that his second spell in charge started poorly and ended quickly although I'm sure you won't take into account that he hardly took over the finest Barca team in history! With regards to the Bundesliga. Why didn't the one horse win the league the previous season? Why doesn't it win the league every season? Lame? To be fair Katie, if you think he's a fraud/failure/whatever then you must hold the same opinion of Mourinho. True, Mourinho hardly ever has a poor season but he jumps ship at the first sign of a challenge. Has he ever won a league title when he's been challenged? Last season should have been a cake walk for Chelsea but as Liverpool and City put up a fight he buckled to third. He only managed a league title with Real when Barca's focus was elsewhere.
