he did but that was very young and rafa was to buy him well before city got rich. parry did block it too...
Nope. We spent £25m on Lallana which is a bigger worry for me. Would have loved Shaqiri and Firmino in the summer, both were committee targets from what I was told. 2 technically gifted players, with pace, with potential to become world class and already playing at a high level. Instead, we opt for a player who had one good season for Soton and isn't better than Coutinho. Re. Sanchez - I'm sure London was a factor but bear in mind Arsenal probably offered more wages, represent stability i.e. Arsenal have qualified for CL every year, and Wenger is a big name on the continent. I think the whole London thing was just PR spin from LFC.
That was parry and moores nearly having aneurysms at the thoughts of paying 12m for him. Houllier wanted him and had an agreement in principle with him.
We didn't increase the bid from £18mill because there was already hidden expenses. Kit man would have to start carrying around the letter "Q" to iron onto the back of his shirts.
yes yes lfc are useless and utd make players into worldies... now move on. We haven't ruined EVERY player FFS.
Not even one hundredth as good.... Jesus wept, if this is true I simply want to curl up in a ball and die. That said, I thought we had @ £30m-odd the summer budget plus Suarez money left? Shouldn't have been an either/or issue anyway.
Well Tobes, ffs - what ****ing amateurs we have at this club. I don't at all think he would have solved all our problems, but he showed in the WC and in other Switzerland games he has genuine creativity. That is totally priceless, and, with Suarez going, something we desperately needed. But if £20m is right, and we spent that much on a player no better than the current Joe Cole (and, sorry to be harsh, but in terms of pace, skill, vision and creativity Markovich has not shown any more than Cole did in his time at Anfield) I really am bewildered.
Twas just a ply to make us feel better for missing out. We can console ourselves with the alternative reality where Aguero, Henry, Ronaldo ... all came to us, never scored more than four a season and went on to grace the Turkish league ...
We went for Lallana instead of Shaqiri/Firmino. Shaqiri is already a better player than Lallana, has more pace, younger and more potential. I've seen a lot of posts re. Markovic - he's the type of signing that if we waited another year or two to sign, his value will have doubled and the big clubs will be interested, such is his potential. Lallana is the experienced player who should have slotted into the first team and provided creativity. His signing is the more questionable of the two IMO.
Parry again right? Wasn't we offered him for about £5m too? (Man Utd bought him for £12.5mish) True
I agree mate, from what I've seen of him Shaqiri looks a real player, and certainly one who I'd have taken ahead of both Lallana and Markovich ffs.
I rather have a player who has quality, than one who busts a gut and runs around chasing. (Obviously, you want a player who has both)
