  1. Ah yes, don't know why I thought Mafia won the first.

So, Biscan claims to be the Mafia lord but has only been on the winning side one... When I was on his team <doh>

As to how to UN sci-fi the cyborg theme... instead of cyborg mafia they are

"Hypnotized" into thinking they are town.

So the cyborg mafia investigator becomes the hypnotist. He knows the magic trigger to wake them.

Town finds hypno device embedded in brain of hypnotized mafia who think they are town. (Explains why they themselves might not know they were mafia)

And technically mafia didn't win that time. Kgb did because it was mafia vs kgb. Mafia still haven't won... :)

Not sure. Probably an investigator, freemasons and a journalist. I wouldn't want to make them too strong because cyborgs arnt (unless they find right people)... depends... if I gave some town roles to be sleeper cyborgs I'd need to give town more roles to compensate.

I do think the" postal" role could be amusing too (wouldn't work with cyborg idea.above) but it would be funny a vigilante type player that HAD to kill every night.

Especially if it were given to brb...

  7. With this approach could we adapt the hacker slightly and introduced a role that forces a towny to kill by hypotism?

  9. Could we somehow adapt a football theme...?

Obviously the town would have to be Liverpool fans and the bad guys Everton or Man Utd fans.

The town could have a manager, scout, captain and hatchet man:
    - The manager controls the money (see discussion with Biscan earlier)
    - The scout can do investigations
    - The captain can go do PR stuff (paper)
    - Hatchet Man can go out to "hurt" the opponents

The bad guys could have a manager, scout, hatchet man and dodgy ref:
    - The manager controls the money
    - The scout can do investigations
    - Hatchet Man can go out to "hurt" the opponents
    - Dodgy ref can interfere with decisions somehow

Each team starts with a pot of say £10k and it costs money to carry out certain actions:
    - £2k to send the scout out
    - £2k to publicise a article
    - £2k fine for Hatchet Man
    - £2k in a paper bag to the ref

Means teams can chose what they'd rather do but obviously, if they lose a role then they can no longer do it.

PS...very little thought into this, just thinking whilst I typed

Edit: actions could take place at various times; aka varying kickoff times

Can we create a role for a complete psychopath voter in the next round, someone who can't be killed and keeps coming back to haunt them :)

Good idea, we can call it "The BRB".

Bodanki you are THE BRB - Batshit crazy psychopath who changes his votes every 5 minutes, even once dead, he still gets to vote. Plus he has a female sidekick who is not involved, but will come in and accuse people on his behalf when he is asleep. So the mafia players have 24 hour crazy ass ranting coverage <laugh>

I got a bit lucky with a few ideas, but missed plenty more! My biggest fault was overthinking everything!

I've only played Mafia once years and years ago, and it was with only the most basic roles, so I was trying to get my head around the various possibilities.

Added to that I hardly knew any of the posters except Swarbs (from the United board), so I had no idea what their usual writing style or personalities were like.

I relied very heavily on your notes mito, they were very good, and extensive! I think they got me overthinking tbh as you had so much going on in your head, who was acting out of character etc., I thought "Wow all this is going on and I've missed 80% of it!)" <laugh>

Pity you got killed so early so only a couple of days' of notes, and it would have been great to be able to chat to you about my theories. You would've kept me in line and stopped me getting sidetracked!

What can I say, not just overthought stuff but I had no one to talk to! <laugh>

Thanks for the great game Astro, really enjoyed it! And the secret stuff made it really interesting...

Overall it was amazing, I enjoyed some of the crazy and unexpected antics.

My only three comments about people's actions for future games would be:

    A. Don't just try to keep yourself alive, if you're a town role and revealing your role will help town win, do so, even if you're likely to be assassinated. Especially when everyone's calling for you to do it. This seriously hampered the town efforts, looking back we could easily have lost this game, and it would have been avoided if people revealed their roles as we asked them to do.

    B. Don't go killing the talkative people each time, especially the early rounds when it's a more random vote. The quiet guys can only be drawn into talking if they're up for lynching, so put 4 quiet ones up and see what happens. If you go for the talkative guys (who are generally the ones passionate about Mafia), then it kills their enjoyment and they won't keep playing.

    C. People who are online very seldom. Look, it happens and we all have stuff going on in our private lives. But I think if someone is likely to not be online much they must admit as much so that they aren't given a big role.
But more importantly, if someone is going to be offline for a day or so especially around voting time, I would love it if they could announce a proxy who would vote on their behalf. They could rotate it so it's not like it's always the same person and hence suspicious, but say I knew I was going to be offline I would say "Milk can make my vote for me tonight", and at least it changes the dynamics a bit.

I feel this at least splits the quiet people into two groups, those who are genuinely offline, and those who are being shady and acting like they can't be online (say Mafia). They would need to give their vote to someone to avoid suspicion, and giving it to mafia is risky, giving to town more so, so hopefully it encourages more online behaviour.

Nope, we have one for you already RHC...

One of the Mafia guys is in hospital for the whole game, but one of his 2 beautiful daughters sits by his side and can hear all the updates that his Mafia friends come and give him while he lies there. He has burnt his hands badly so can't type, and has gone mute so cant talk, so he doesn't contribute at all to the voting or debating process...

    <laugh>

EDIT: Guys, PL is on 22 Nov again. Any club matches for you guys before then? I know we don't! :steam:

    Is he also half snail?

I'd like it if he has a slug lower half cos then it really would be closer to.... Well not606 reality

Oh and the hammerhead got bitten off or something

For the football theme. I had actually considered this one but felt as we had many non lfc fans people might resent it

My plan was to make it like this

2 Everton fans working together to annoy the town anyway they can. Unlike masons they are aligned with mafia as they'd rather thier town burn than be lfc
    Town is lfc obviously
1 Chelsea fan. He is like milks vampires so as this insidious effect of the grows and grows each day but people are to shamed until the end to admit they support liverpool
The mafia would be a few man utd fans they actually get no power but their own arrogance

Re milk.... Galactic theme is ok, if you go that way sometime don't de scifi the town, go the whole hog

Re tb.... Most of my notes are just ramblings too. Yes I'd like to survive but it doesn't happen. I got the feeling the moment you came in that you might have played it before.

Also for valley..... You did good too!
