FA response to FIFA report into 2018/2022 bidding process

The FA has today responded to the statement from the Chairman of the Adjudicatory Chambers of the FIFA Ethics Committee on the report of the inquiry into the 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup bidding process.

An FA spokesman said: "We note the FIFA Ethics Committee has today published a 42-page report in relation to the bidding processes for the FIFA World Cups in 2018 and 2022.

“We were not given any prior notice of the report before publication. We do not accept any criticism regarding the integrity of England’s bid or any of the individuals involved.

“We conducted a transparent bid and, as the report demonstrates with its reference to the England bid team’s ‘full and valuable cooperation’, willingly complied with the investigation. We maintain that transparency and cooperation around this entire process from all involved is crucial to its credibility.

“We also note that after a lengthy investigatory process and assessment, the report has concluded that the ‘potentially problematic facts and circumstances identified by the report regarding the England 2018 bid were, all in all, not suited to compromise the integrity of the FIFA World Cup 2018/22 bidding process as a whole’.”

    I think it's absolutely brilliant.

The sheer balls-out audacity of the thing is frankly hilarious.

It's quite unbelievable. The gift that keeps giving.

So the Russians destroyed their evidence and get off.

English FA play fair, comply with inquiry, provide evidence and are criticised.

    Sums it up.

BOOM! Michael Garcia says Eckert decision " contains numerous materially incomplete and erroneous representations of the facts."

    No ****. It's a farce.

    Not only corrupt but incompetent.

FIFA officials all too busy feathering their nests, looking after their own interests and back-stabbing opponents that they don't have time to actually run the world governing body of football.

It's a joke, but they have to cover their backs, so what did we expect. The Russians said they borrowed computers which contained E mail communications, but they gave them back to those who they borrow them from, and they wiped all the data. Well well how convenient.

Don't know if anyone read the reports that OLM linked to but I'm surprised in this day and age that FIFA is still a private organisation ('private association' according to their own report)

Maybe that's where the trouble lies - time to make it fully accountable and transparent by changing the status.

It's wonderfully chaotic. Absolutely no self-awareness or integrity in sight.

    It's hilarious.

Everyone, EVERYONE knows FIFA is a joke, but they genuinely believe they are beyond reproach, and I think
also, that they are genuinely ethical.

I couldnt believe this when I heard it on the radio earlier. They published a report that may as well ignored everything he found.

    FIFA are beyond redemption.

Time for the top footballing nations to break away and form an alternative governance.

    All other nations will follow.

The English FA are hopeless - clueless and useless........but hardly corrupt.

As for FIFA they are what they are and have been for years. Most know FIFA for what they are. The fact that the reports compilar also voices his concerns should hardly shock anyone.

The answer to FIFA is simple. But which countries have the "balls" to do something about it. ??

If UEFA would do one then i think that the likes of the USA, Aussies would follow suit. But dont hold your breath.
