Off to Austria for a bit of pre season skiing on the Hintertux Glacier on Saturday. Its a 5 day, 5 hours a day training camp and we are both wondering whether at 61 we will survive the week, but it has been on our bucket list for a while. We have been spending 2 hours at the Gym 3 days a week to get fit so we are glad that we can actually stop this malarky and get skiing. Hope the sun is out, more anon.
Perhaps this should be the some fun thread but.... Why do women get married in white? All domestic appliances come in white! Why do women have small feet? Because they can stand closer to the sink!
Symbolism, Yorkie, symbolism. In a post- modern world the way to emphasise social status is through the misuse of objects that have become redundant of a consequence of technological change. This serves the purpose of not only signifying worth, or lack of it, but also the inability to adapt, which is crucial, according to the evolutionary biologists, if one is to maintain a place within the still functioning part of society rather than to be cast into the sink of social detritus. I could go on but I find it very difficult to think like a sociologist.
Pah! Can't even take the piss out of sociologists on here. I'll have to revert to Australians, but they are such an easy target, especially when they support the Whimper, who are currently bottom of the A League.
Good morning all from a cold and damp Weston-super-Mare! Sunshine promised for later! Have a good day!

Morning all, rather a damp start here, but still mild. Yesterday I was on my way home from town, when I was pulled in by the police force. Must be a papers check I thought, but no it seems I was doing over the speed limit. Seeing as I was not exactly rushing I was surprised to find that I was 15 mph over the limit. Points off my license again and a fine. I just get my points back and I lose them again.
Another 400 words written for the fourth Winfrith novel,it's finally stopped raining and we're shortly off for a pub lunch. Good day, so far... Just need a few more purchases and a review or two for 'The Morning Gift' and I'll be very happy.
In many decades of driving I only got points on my licence twice (despite owning Ford Cosworth, Honda Integra etc) and the occasions were three weeks apart. One of them was on an empty M11 at 3am in the morning doing just under 60 on a 50 limit (for road works which were not happening at that time of night). It does seem it's a bit of a lottery, especially when you witness suicidal drivers appearing to be able to remain on the road. If this is not entirely coherent, blame the good lunch!
