I've accepted I'll die young due to my lifestyle choice, I'd rather enjoy 70 years than spend 90 limiting myself or whatever.

Last sentence I agree with all day long.

I'm kind of at war with food as it is mate, I am void of inspiration in the kitchen so I eat the same things every week but my diet keeps me in a routine which I need in my life, it also helps me sleep well which I've had problems with historically. I don't think it's about wanting to live longer, the reason I eat healthy is simply so I don't get fat. I have hypothyroidism so it'd be very easy for me to get fat if I started to slack.

People assume that because I'm physically clean that I've had no obstacles to overcome, I face the same battle as many obese people every day but the difference is I don't look for excuses.

Spot on, at the minute I have high metabolism and exercise regularly, so at least on the outside, any ill effects of my terrible diet aren't going to show. I have no cooking skills whatsoever and they're still better than our lasses, so greggs, mcdonald's, ready meals are just easier. When the day comes that I start putting on weight, I'll change my lifestyle. One thing I could never deal with is being fat, to me it just shows a total lack of self worth and self respect, and if you don't respect yourself no one else will respect you. Fact of life.

I think it's something that I could accept more in the older generations, as you become less physically able. Old fit people are few and far between in this country especially, but that doesn't bother me as much, they've kind of earned that right.

My biggest gripe with obesity is the fact that many refuse to accept responsibility and the ones who expect gastric bands because they're too embarrassed to work out or too greedy to diet.

It's a bigger killer than anything else in this country and it needs dealt with, at all costs, regardless of who gets their feelings hurt.

Agreed on all counts. It's the people who won't go to the gym because they'll get mocked that piss me off, in reality the people in the gym who are 20 stone get nothing but respect for actually being in there doing something about it.

There's a lad about 23 years old in my gym every day who wears braces on his legs like young Forrest Gump, lifting every day, no excuses.

We don't kick him by the way, he just uses the free weights <ok>

Brilliant that, used to see Lyndon Longhorne at my local swimming baths on a regula basis, up and down the pool. Really makes you think and incredibly inspirational to see it with your own eyes.
