There seems to be divided opinion about this among Charlton fans.

Has RD got the means to really get involved in January, and basically buy us a Top 6 spot in what is an average Championship this year ?

Or is it a case of slowly, slowly catchy monkey....and more freebies & loans?

Honestly, I'm expecting a striker and that's it. He appears to come across as a patient man and I think he will consider the job BP's doing a success. It will be interesting to see what standards January windows have been like to gauge some sort of idea.

I am hoping for an Igor calibre signing if we are in the top 6. If not, I am expecting little/nowt.

Agree - if we fall away massively between now and January then I don't expect any investment till the summer.

I just wish the chance of a signing or two is based on the 'now'... look how we are travelling with our threadbare squad, we should be signing in january regardless. If we fall away, we can easily come back.

How come De Melo is only 29 but being moved around so easily. Surely the reason would not be that hard to find out.

If it's a short term contract and an improvement on Tucudean etc then doesn't that make it good business?

Not if we want a settled team and a settled team is the one that usually gets results.

Chopping and changing when the replacement is only one notch above the incumbant doesn't work.

For short term fixes it has to be top class or don't bother.

"One notch" above Tucadean would still make de Melo sh!te <ok>

Would love to see the likes of Troy Deeley or David Nugent or even Glenn Murray signing for us in Jan to play alongside Igor.

I think it's safe to say all of those players, including the 7million rated Deeney - are out of our reach.

A settled team is a safer bet for getting results - agreed. But injections of improvements aren't always a negative (look at the MLS-Premier League loans for example).

I also trust that we won't sign him for the sake of it. If he's not fit/willing/an improvement etc - then I think BP will decline. If it were someone involved in the network then perhaps he would move over - as proven with players like Tucudean. But this is a different case and imagine it will be treated so.
