Shaqiri has stated today that Bayern blocked his proposed 18m move to Liverpool in the summer. It lead Liverpool to spunking 20m on Lazar Markovic. Damn you Bayern and we gave ye Pepe , sneaky Gerrie Bsstards.
is he drumming up interest for Reus inevitable arrival which will mean he is off, or is he saying please come and get me again Liverpool type thing. we had similar with the plank didn't we, just hope in this case if we have a chance to pursue it again.
he's lying. he is whining about not getting game time at bayern. I am of the opiion he has no intent to join us and used us to get a batter deal there. now he is still not getting games and is agitating using us. IMO we can forget players like this. Big club johnnies act like spoilt brats. we need to be the guys finding the guy in switzerland or playing for lesser club in holland before a bayern, ajax etc snap them up. Look at montyoa being linked to us again... tied to the apron strings of his big club and using us to fish for a move.... no intent to join us.
True but then every player has a price. Fair enough it might have been out of our league but nevertheless, if we felt we could get a deal for him at that price why value Markovich even higher (I appreciate these figures aren't always 100% accurate) and Lallana even higher than that? It also brings into question those doing the recruiting?? How many of our initial top targets did we actually get this year? Having finished second and guaranteeing CL footy (and lots of cash to spend from that and the Suarez sale) why did we miss out on so many of our top targets? It's not good enough to make excuses about "they wanted to go to London" or "such and such blocked the move"....who wasn't doing their homework before the summer and finding out who would come to Anfield? Do they believe very good players come cheap very often? They really don't. I'm not suggesting Shaqiri would have solved all of our problems. He wouldn't have. I'm definitely not suggesting this was a deal we should have done at all costs but it's just another nudge towards thinking we have a terrible habit of getting player valuations completely wrong...every bloody summer
he was never interested... come on guys think back he was always courting bayern for a bigger role. if rues goes to madrid bang goes this... at best we were a long distant second choice. to answer you billy IMO our top targets............ were a) thrown into disarray by suarez b) unrealistic given wages on offer and clubs players were at. we were after sanchez. i think thats fairly clear. arsenal offer more wages. never mind the london crap the money dictates... then falcao... bull **** 250k per week wages he's on. never happening ever... and the list goes on. I'm sadly confident lallana and lovern were on said list but markovic and balotelli were panic buys
Didn't Arsenal offer less than us but he wanted to go to London. Like it or not London is a big draw - doesn't matter that some top players go to Manchester or Southampton or wherever instead of Liverpool - some actually do want to be in London, I think in Sanchez case that's a valid point. I will add to that I don't think he wanted to be a 'Suarez replacement / done deal / make-weight' either. What names other than Gerrard would he have heard of? Yet Arsenal are full of players he would actually want to play alongside.
the 'more wages' argument really does but me. Not because its true or untrue, just that it is used as the main reason for a player joining certain a clubs or choosing one over the other etc
probably one of the best places to be in europe IF as footballers do at top level, have money to spend and burn. weather means **** all, ie ****e lol, as it just means you appreciate and look forward to your holidays abroad more, and they can afford the best, ****s lol.
welll....... i'd say in the top but not really close to top. you can be in spain dodging tax, great place to be. milan is the same.... paris seems to be the same. rangers got folded up for tax dodging but psg are doing the same to avoid huge taxes. in england 50% goes to tax man at source. so yeah in england london is best place to be period. It'd be higher than munich in my eyes but it depends what you are looking for. sanchez moved to be the big fish... he's got the lifestyle, the money and the expectations of doing enough without winning sorry krome.
Wasn't this one of the arguments on the 'is Rodgers able to attract big names thread' ? I agree with you. There's no one size fits all when it comes to why a player joins a club. Aguero for example said in an interview years ago that he grew up a Liverpool fan and if ever he came to the PL it would be only to Liverpool. There's numerous stories like that out there and stories of who offered what etc. etc. We can only really speculate as to the truth in any of these tales. Read this latest piece of gossip and see what you think - http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...-plays-down-liverpool-speculation_187925.html Is the bit he's not actually saying 'I will go to whoever pays me the most' ??
i would say yes for these 2 quotes myself. "he admits that Liverpool are his "dream club" complete contradiction to the 2nd part below! "Odegaard has previously trained with Bayern Munich and Manchester United." wtf?? dream is to play for us yet has trained with that ****e! Bayern ok fair enough
Didn't know that #gutted Didn't Rafa want him but Parry / G&H blocked it...? similar with others such as Alves, Simao, etc
