Theres a reason for that.Shanks laid the foundations for the modern day Liverpool.Bob as they say built on those foundations. He made a great team an even better team.
I think that it had more to do with his personality that he wasn't honoured appropriately. He was a shy, humble and an unassuming man.He wasn't an arse-licking mouth-piece like Ferguson.

Many of the older Manu supporters would say Busby was better than Fergie. And they're probably right.

As long as you keep an argument like that (Shanks/Paisley BUsby/Fergie) among your own supporters, it's a good debate.

Put both Liverpool an Manu supporters on the same one and it devolves into a trophy count exercise and goes nowhere.

I think it's more to do with personality.

Shankly was thought of as charismatic, while Paisley was thought of as low key and understated. He also succeeded Shankly, which wasn't the case with Ferguson and Busby. I'm not criticising Paisley, I just think that Shankly is one of the reasons why Paisley doesn't get more credit.

He was also the first self taught physio and was a brickie in his spare time.
He said when he got the Liverpool job and I quote ''I got the bloody job ah and I didn't it''

even so Manchester United and Fergie are not renowned for their charity work are they, otherwise it would be known to all. I think that is the level you need to reach for someone like Fergie to get an award for charity work and well someone that does not benefit from charity is truely charitable, it is even worse than buying the knighthood as his charity work wouldn't amount to that done by a volunteer getting the dole!.

Besides, when Labour are trying to make him a lord it is obvious where the knighthood came from.

The first part of that comment is rubbish as United are very well reknowned for charity work, you just choose to ignore it completely as in your head Liverpool are quite simply the only club of any virtue anywhere in the world. In fact, the probably invented charity.

When Paisley was in full justification of the honour the Conservative government was in and Thatcher didn't care about football or sport, so he was ignored. I'm sure had labour, and in particular Blair, been in he'd have got one. Which is why Ferguson got one. It's just not a point worth getting worked up about.

If Paisley had carried on he might well have been so succesfull as to never be caught but he didn't and Ferguson has so really it's a an irrelvant argument. All suposition.

Well I'm sorry but Fergusons 12 league titles suggests otherwise.

Honous for famous people very rarely have any justification, they are simply political point scoring for the self-serving scum who sit in parliament.

yeah but Fergie got his long before he came close to any of our records as well. It aint an argument. it is naieve amazement at the fact that these awards are a bit of a joke. Thats all I think, the Fergie knighthood has long since been ndiscussed and laughed at.

They'll probably be given out now in special packs of walkers in the not too distant future.

I honestly don't think such an award would have sat well with Bob Paisley imo, he certainly would have talked it down and his deserving of it.

I'm a United supporter and I'm from Manchester, within those parts they are are reknowned. Sorry if they don't bother doing too much in Liverpool but we'll leave that to you lot.

I know of absolutely nothing that Liverpool do charity wise, they could do jack **** for all I know, but I wouldn't for a second say that they don't do anything, like you all seem to think of our club.
