Cattermole has been announced the north east writers' player of the year award. Well deserved, he's improved a great deal in the last 12 months, credit to him and credit to Gus <ok>

Well deserved. Great for him to get some sort of media recognition, albeit regional

Agreed. He'll never win the refs over, but he's been playing out of his skin. One of Bruce's better decisions!

Damn!!! I was just about to get really ****ing irritated by another "have a go at Cattermole thread"!!!

That's fantastic!! Really pleased for him

I made a punt at the start of the season on here that he will get an England call up this season, so this can only help!

He's continually under-rated week after week after week. He's so important to us and this just confirms that again.

    So pleased for him!

I'm just glad we did not let Stoke have him last January. Can remember watching SSN with horror when he was at their ground for talks.

A couple of years ago, I thought this lad was a bloody embarrassment, a liability that we'd be well rid of. Since then, he's cleaned his act up no end, and I think this is very well deserved. Well done, Lee.

He'll never get an england call up mate. Sad reality that form and playing well means nothing. They'd rather have Shelvey as Catts is a liability with all of his yellow cards (Oh hang on.... Hasn;t shelvey got 7 yellows to Cattermoles 5... Hmmmm)

    and a red.

Catts will get a call up - but only if he leaves us so hopefully he'll be capless for a while longer

Well done to him, greatly improved in 2014.

Out of interest, does anybody know if you get sent off for two yellows, does that count as two yellows and a red or one red or what?
