Believe it or not we've got a game tomorrow night against Crawley! In the only competition we've managed to string more than one positive result consecutively in. Crawley are in bad form too, any chance of us getting through further and being one step to Wembley? Wouldn't hold our breath
Regardless of recent results i would like to see the Gills do well in this...a decent Wembley payday for the club....and we certainly need it at the moment.
brb At the risk of being called a wum - You might have to merge this thread with the 'Taxi for Pete' thread if the result forces the taxi to divert to Broadfield Stadium around 9.35pm tonight
I'd rather we won tonight than Saturday seriously, the morale around the club is so poor at the moment a potential day out at Wembley is too big to just dismiss.
We really do have to go at it tonight, by my maths were three wins away from Wembley with tonight, the area semi, the area final and then the actual final which will be brilliant for the club and the fans and I have to fully agree with Liam that tonight is much more important. Theres no one in this competition to really fear and whilst I agree in the first rounds its a throwaway for the kids to get experience now its really crucial. Hope PT goes for it and we take another step towards Wembley.
The last thing Gills want is to have another mid week commitment. One of the most significant adverse influences this season has been the youngsters having to play two matches a week as exemplified by the weariness of Hessy junior and Dack. Young bodies are unable to cope with matches so close together. A defeat after a decent performance is the best outcome for Gills tonight.
We need a confidence boosting win, a good performance with a defeat is still a defeat and won't get the monkey off the player's back. A win will do wonders, I hope we go for it tonight
Absolutey mad, can't win an argument in the league and then go away on a cold dreary night in a tin pot cup and win with ten men. Now that is the Gills I love. If they make it to the final I shall be going to Wembley, while I won't put money in Priestfield again I shall certainly enjoy a trip to London
Here here......... a round of applause for the team.....and one for PT for picking the right team for the job and dare I say it the tactics too.
To be fair, from the sound of the match report we were dire in the first half and it was only after giving the players a b*****ing at half time and bringing on McGlashan and Dack that we are actually started to play well. Question now is will he finally drop Hessenthaler for favour of Dack on saturday? If he doesn't then and lose to Orient then we're back to square one.
and how many fans on different message boards have been calling for Dack to play ? Fans have been proved right again
thats not how it was put across on gills player commentary, it was a much improved first half performance and despite being a goal down we were the better team by the sounds of it. This carried on into the second half and after we were down to 10 men. That said it did sound like mcglashen provided the required spark to change possession into chances.
Great result coming back from a goal down, only the second time in 135 games (taken from G Wade stats) that we have won from a half time deficit. All 10 players who finished the game deserve a chance on Saturday (including Hess) as they all worked hard to turn this one around.
