All this furore about him going back to work is pissing me off!

Rape is disgusting, evil! No right-thinking person would think otherwise.

But the guy has done his time, ok, half the sentence, but most con's only do half the time, so what is he supposed to do now?

Why isn't he allowed to go back to work?

If he was a plumber, plaster, rocket scientist, he'd be back at work somewhere.

What the **** do the press expect him to do? Live the rest of his life on benefits?

If he'd been an armed robber and done his time, could you imagine telling him he wasn't allowed a job because he had a criminal record?

OK then, I'll go back to robbing banks!

Shouldn't be put in a position where they're idolised by children if they're a rapist. Simple as that.

PR suicide for a club, absolutely idiotic to consider signing him at that level.

If Sunderland started hiring rapists I'd quite happily forget they exist and pick a team from the continent to support.

So once Pistorious has done his 10 months in jail should he be allowed back on the track to earn millions per year?

No one's stopping these people earning a living, they don't have to be footballers, as poor Kevin Kyle has recently proven.

I guess you did mate <ok>

I'm in the same place as you. If it was my wife or daughter I wouldn't settle for less than his gonads Swaying in the breeze on the washing line!

But we have to have some agreement on the law of the land. He was found guilty. He did his time. And now it's time to move on.

He was on the news tonight about him training again with the Blades and the press drag out the the usual "women who hate men" brigade, (apologies up-front for that!!) saying he shouldn't be taken back to train at work.

So what is he supposed to do? Re-train as an an anti-violence anti-rape counsellor? I know that's sounds facetious but what the **** is he supposed to do? All he knows is being a footballer.

I just think if he was a plumber, plasterer, etc, this wouldn't still be news.

So Kevin Kyle is now working on the North Sea.

Bankers commit crimes, do their time and 1 week after work, they're earning a fortune again in the city.

Rich self-employed commit a crime, do their time, 1 week later they're earning a fortune.

My point is that life isn't fair. Rich guys, rich footballers, poor guys, poor footballers, do their time, they should be able to resume their life and move on. The press shouldn't be able to pick and choose who they decide can go back to their pre-conviction lives. If Ched Evans wasn't a footballer, he wouldn't have been on the national news tonight. And that's wrong.

it depends on society and and psychological impact the crime fits, remember this is a conviction we are talking about, not a misdemeanor or a somewhat trivial crime, this is rape, he has been proven through the court of law to have forced himself on somebodies wife, mother, sister, daughter.

I agree mate. A heinous crime. Hideous. I'm not for a second belittling that point.

My point was that the national press are making a point JUST because he's a footballer. If he was some common or garden bloke like you or me, it wouldn't still be in the national press, 5 or 6 weeks after he's been released. It's that point I'm making.

I'm not excusing what he's done, I'm just questioning the press's right to be judge and juror on his right to move on after making a dreadful, awful decision one night.

its the fact that he has still been earning £20k per week of a 3 year contract whilst inside, joe public will earn £20k in a year, our joe public would find it very difficult to find a job earning more than £24k with a rape conviction and that would probably be in a driving capacity only, LGV or something.

You think more highly of modern pro footballers than I do mate. I don't think they'd blink an eye.

That's the point the "women against men" woman was making. What he earns shouldn't come into it.

And as for being a role-model, if he gets booed everytime he's on the ball, that's for him to deal with. That's football society casting their judgement. But he should still be allowed out there to hear that judgement, and deal with it, or not, in his own way.

I don't think anyone who got found guilty of rape should be put in a position where kids look up to them. Bankers swindling people out of money is awful but it's not a violent crime and they're not celebrated through the media as national heroes.

I see your point and I understand where you're coming from but I can't say I agree. I think football is different, it's a privilege, not a living.

It's not a privilige. It's a job. A lucrative one I grant you. But still just a job.
