only one manager has won it three times, nobody matched him let alone beat him and nobody knighted him, madness total madness
It is. You have to be a brown nose or outlandish to get one it seems. In perspective, the 2005 England Cricket Team (as amazing as they were) recieved tons of accolades including mbe's for players who barely featured. If Paisley lived in modern times he would be a Sir. Welcome to the site...
It is rather odd, nope actually it is form. Money talks contributions talk. And Fergie got his a long time ago for 1 european cup and Bob the great gets nowt for three, love to see mancs do the math on that one. Also a great man, where as the other one is bitter disrespectful dishonest and childish, it really makes no sense that Fergie got one and Bob didn't except Bob didn't fancy buying one nor did he probably give a fk about it either would such a great man! Bob put English football on the european map
6 League titles, 3 European Cups, 3 League Cups, 1 UEFA Cup, 1 European Super Cup and 5 Charity Shields in 9 years. If he'd gone on Fergie wouldn't have gotten anywhere near him.
People think that of Sir Alex because of what they see of him infront of the camera. Away from the camera players and other managers talk of how gracious and what a great man Sir Alex is.
I am sure people I get along with will give me a good ref, but there is a certain amount of arse kissing going on imo more than they genuinely like the git. But not everyone. My employers wil give me a good ref too. Doesn't mean I am not an arsehole
Wrong. Opposition managers often talk of his graciousness, how he has offered advice and support and offered his congratulations after his side have been beaten. Don't just believe what you see in the media.
When you see people like Bruce Forsyth getting knighthoods, you wonder how Bob Paisley didn't get one. By the way, welcome to the site!
I think Man Utd and Sir Alex also do a lot of charity work too, that may have something to do with him being knighted.
That's a pretty good summary actualy. You cannot deny is winnings, but he is of questionable character!
Listen to what opposition players, managers and those who know him say about him and not how he is protrayed in the media or how he acts infront of the camera.
You can watch his press conferences, comments before important games/times in the season, reactions to refs to see exactly what he is like. The fact he is part of the Premier League furniture I believe influences people into favourable decisions. He is a very clever guy. People do not want to rock the boat. As for other managers - sum say he is a good guy - i.e the ones who benefit out of him or were former players. Again though - do you criticise someone of his stature? No because it isn't beneficial. I don't believe it is quite as chummy as it may look. Players who work/have worked under him praise him. But again do you bite the hand that feeds/has fed you money and glory, or even could be your path to future glory? No.
Yes, because in this world of political correctness, people always say exactly what they're thinking...Seriously now. It's the same way EVERY post-match interview is exactly the same every week to the extent where there's no point listening to 90% of managers; you can predict what they'll say. If you ask someone what he thinks of Fergie, he'll say exactly what he needs to say to keep his image good and friendly. Really...I thought some people here had a brain.
You hear people praising him away from post match interviews. If they don't think that he is a gracious person but didn't want to offend then they could just say nothing.
