Stop taking yourself so seriously, as mentioned a handful of jibes at the Budgies expense and your all in a flap.! If I didn't know better you are the one trying to hijack this thread, why you would want to draw attention to yourselves just at the moment is beyond me.....
We were having a good discussion here until your attempt to derail it. If you don't mind I would like to get back on topic.
I suppose the next questions would be are Ben Wyatt or Matt Clarke up to the task of playing LB at all this season.. I would guess that they probably wouldn't be and need a couple of seasons before they are close to contention Also, shifting Parr to LB and Hewitt at RB would be an option
I just crave attention carry on . Also i do take all this extremely seriously and have no time for WUMs.
Parr would be the obvious replacement. Clarke is another for the future and I think he'll make us a few quid in a few years time. Whilst it's admirable wanting to keep your players there is a lot of progress to be gained from continually selling your prospects, if they are adequately replaced. I'm not sure we're in the position to turn down silly money.
Matty Clarke is a central player mainly in midfield from what I have seen in the U21s. Parr would be the obvious choice and that is his preferred position of the two. There is the young RB who picked up a bad injury towards the tail end of last season who was given a 1 year contract this summer, unfortunately his name escapes me ATM, he is also one with promise.
Mings is clearly progressing nicely and I have been impressed and I have rated him more as the season has gone on, I just honestly do not understand the amount of hype around him at the moment, he could for all I know go on to play for England but at the minute he could easily end up down the leagues, he hasn't jumped out at me yet I haven't seen the potential like many others to say he could. Infact I would say bar his athleticism Hewitt showed more quality in the small number of appearances he made. I was however very impressed with him defensively at the weekend, he looked very assured and positionally sound previously when I'd seen him I'd thought he looked a bit of a headless chicken and was positionally poor. Have to agree with KOPR Cressy was our most consistent (best) player since the Burely era. Have we missed him, well we've done well without him and Mings has done well and adequately filled the void he left but I'd argue we'd be better with him in the team than Mings, so yes we have particularly the number of assists. I do agree though we relied on Cresswell heavily (both defensively and attacking) whereas now we attack more as a team, it was similar last season when Williams was in the team, we used to just give him the ball and hope he did something, in alot of games this season we've been collectively better going forward.
Asking if we've missed Cresswell is like asking if we've missed McGoldricks goals (No idea if the Stats back me up, but it seems to me he's been a little less prolific than at this point last year) because others have stepped up to the plate so well. In the end it's academic, we are doing better. Is it the right time to sell Mings? If someone offers 10M then I would snap their hands off. We dont know if Mings is a flash in the pan or a real talent that will progress, but considering we sold Cresswell for under 5M then we would be fools not to sell Mings at 10M, especially if next season/Second half of season Mings is "found out"/form drops off the radar etc... Parr at LB, Chambers/Hewitt at RB, Berra Smith in the Middle. I don't think we'll miss Mings.
