Morning, comrades. HARGAM set to make his bow for Mr Henderson in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham on Saturday. Like the great Zaynar this 3YO arrives at Seven Barrows as ex-Aga Khan stock. And there the similarity may not end. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more... And on Sunday another he may well unveil is BIRCH HILL in the Listed Bumper. Again the sky could be the limit re this winner in the pointing field... Exciting times for followers of the forum's favourite trainer.
Talking of the Forums favourite trainer, has anyone backed Simonsig for the King George? I find the fact that he is the 5/1 favourite for the race Ridiculous with a capital "R" and I wouldn't even back him with Sir Barney's money.
Shall I start my annual obsession about Simonsig and a tilt at the ‘Champion Hurdle’?!? Do agree that 5/1 is far too short for him and the St Stephen’s Day (sorry Swanny) highlight. That heat this year looks impossible to call at this stage.
SBC ... I was too busy yesterday to get online and thank you for your insightful double ... a well placed tenner brought great rewards .. many thanks !!
Glad you were on Ekbalco. Keep a close eye on the yard as they know what they are doing especially in the period from now until the end of the jumps season. The only downfall about following them is that those bookie chappies know this and that combined with the fact their connections like a punt often sees the more 'likely' stable runners go off at shorter odds than they probably should – Stow, for instance, won 4 last season and 3 times he was Evens or shorter and Lamps was returned at just 13/8 and 7/4 in 2 of his 3 wins in 2013/14. In fact, to be honest, both yesterday’s winners were again probably shorter than they should have been.
SBC - as my I always tell my kids .. better a short priced winner than a long priced loser ... keep those top tips flowing .. a friend of mine has 2 horses with the forums' favourite trainer - i shall advise of any snippets I get from him .. thanks again !
Right then, let's see how El Namoose jumps a hurdle ................ nothing wrong with his engine, that's for sure
That's alright, will start to call it that myself if I don't watch out! Like Simonsig, fine racehorse....
Looking forward to seeing Hargam, 2nd to Teletext and beat Guardini as well, might be worth taking the 16s for the Triumph. Silvi Conti 5/1 for the Betfair and 8/1 for the King George look class bets to me. Was 11/2 and 9/1 last night.
Surely SC has a lot to prove after that dire return at Wetherby? Clearly he is a very good horse, but have we seen the best of him? I am confused about the staying chasers, we have had poor returns for Cue Card, SC and Holywell and the others look muddling.
I know bit of luck too I swapped MWOY with AOH at the last minute as I thought Ned Stark would be hard to beat! But as I say Good Minds Think Alike,
I got 3 interesting contenders for the BC, KG and the CGC BC- Al Ferof if he is going to get 3m it will be on the slick track of a flattish Haydock and as youvsyvwothvsone disappointing returns so far and the questioning of some of the retuning stars! He has the class to win it altho his jumping can be abit iffy at times has the pace to win but my money is stil on TDS KG- not really original but interesting is Simonsig. If there was one horse that I could ride it woul be him altho he would probably pull the arms out my sockets he is reported to be back in ful health he is seriously a class act jumping pace and he settles well all the attribute to win big races CGC - Sir Des Champs surely if he comes back to any of his form from 2 yrs ago and that is a big ask after a serious injury he will take all the beating he is the class horse in the race with the best form except bobs worth of course but will he be the same horse as 2 yrs ago he didn't look it last march
I thought he jumped beautiful, done all the donkey work and paid for it at the end, Nicholls have been needing the run and I think he will come on a lot for it, he blew up. And as you say, the division is there for the taking at the minute, Cue Card has always been a dog for me and he has the beating of Dynaste on last years form, Simonsig at 3m I dont know. Conti is only 8yo so he should really be at his peak as a chaser now and his jumping suggested as much, King George winners seem to follow up quite a lot and ive seen it too many times now when a top jumps horse improves 16 stone from its first run to write him off after a first up run.
