I know a number of people have donated already but I think this is the sort of cause which deserves its own thread. https://www.crowdcube.com/caterham/
I have donated. I think some fan power needs to come back into the sport. Bernie doesn't like this idea either because F1 is not for peasants
I've donated. Not a significant amount, just what I'd have been prepared to pay for one of the rewards anyway. I'm impressed they've raised more than £1m already, but I suspect it's going to tail off and they won't make their target. I think they've chosen this platform rather than something like Kickstarter as I think they'll get whatever money offered even if they fail to reach their target. Hopefully that £1m or so goes to making sure staff receive significant pay-offs before christmas, rather than lining Fernandes' back pocket. That's my only concern.
I'm tempted to donate, and the merchandise on offer isn't that much more expensive than normal f1 prices. Even if they do reach their target and get to Abu Dhabi, they would still need a miracle to survive next year. They need 10th in the constructors, as otherwise they won't get category 1 prize money (for being in the top 10 for 2 out of the last 3 years) or category 2 prize money (performance payment to top 10) or category 3 money (the money originally paid to the new teams because of a promise to Max Mosley, which Bernie is no longer willing to pay).
Well done to all who donate, I've got my concerns which are in the budget cap thread but probably more valid here. I'd donate if there was more info and a plan.
I think they'll get 10th by default since Marussia folded. Just have to survive long enough to claim it.
there are a lot of big ticket items that have not been sold. Im surprised no rich big wigs and celebs have not snapped them. good christmas presents too!
You say that, but they've only got 3257 backers as of this statement, which means the average backer has donated roughly £366. Crowd-funding is weird like that.
