Chelsea are set to further unsettle Arsenal's plans for the new season with a bid for Theo Walcott.

With Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy set to join Manchester City, and Cesc Fabregas' move to Barcelona at last looking like it will happen, Arsene Wenger is on the verge of losing almost half a team.

England winger Walcott is reportedly a target of new Chelsea manager Andres Villas-Boas.

The pacy former Southampton youngster is reportedly among the increasing number of Gunners players who are disillusioned with life at the Emirates.

He is said to feel that he was not given enough first-team opportunities as Arsenal's season derailed last term.

The 22-year-old has also been linked with a move to Juventus recently.

I started a thread about this last night, but Skid Marks has closed it.

    Why?

Why is the fact that I started the debate any less important that that it was started by someone else?

Skid Marks claims that I am only on here to wind up the Gooners. Firstly, that isn't the only reason I am on here - this is a genuine piece of news, as the OP of this thread has amply demonstrated. But even if my only intention was to wind up the Gooners, so what? Where's he crime in that? I haven't personally insulted anyone, and I am still only repeating news that has been reported on a reputable site (BBC Sports). It's not as though I have invented the story.

I really do wish the mods on this site would grow up a little, and stop being so juvenile and so precious. Posters should have he right to indulge in some banter - that's what football is about. I wish mods would stop sucking the life and humour out of the sport that us normal fans love so much. Please, stop acting like pathetic little Nazis and let the banter flow <ok>

We all like a bit of banter, I do myself but I wouldn't go on a mission to wind up Tottenham fans on the United board as your attempting here with the Arsenal boys. If you guys wish to argue as you do please take it elsewhere because you ain't using the Chelsea board as a battlefield <ok>

The boy has talent and is one if the quickest players you'll ever see but he's injury prone and his form blows hot and cold. I think there is probably better players we could go for such as Hazard or Sanchez.

As for White Hot Lane there's a fine line between banter and a bit of humor and deliberatey antagonistic wind ups. It's a bit like the boy who cried wolf and suddenly claiming to be interested in intelligent debate and good natured banter after some of your previous posts is a bit rich.

If every player Chelsea (and for matter ManU, City, Arse, Pool etc) were linked to were actually bought all of them would have roughly a squad 50 -75% from the previous year, which we all know is not going to happen for all the well know reasons.

I think there is some genuine interest by all these clubs in all the top players about whether they are available for transfer, near end of contract, or clearly not for sale.

    The logic being :

    a) You never know your luck, it's worth a punt and for such a player changes to accommodate them could be made.

    b) You know you aren't going to be successful with all your targets and time decrees that you can't wait around to one becomes unavailable to try the next likely one, so you attempt as many as you can at the same time.

    c) You are pretty certain you will be unsuccessful, but since any group of talented individuals do not guarantee to make a winning team (and this is the wind up bit I mentioned) by destabilising a top individual pre-season you can cause rifts and destabilise a whole rival team. Teams win because of a shared work ethic and goal. Reality is that agents isolate their clients by inflating their ego's and therefore their price and possible earnings, all of which runs completely against the team ideology.

I'm sorry, but it's nothing at all like the boy who cried "wolf!"

When the boy cried wolf, there was, in fact, no wolf.

Every post I have made has been made off the back of news in the press. Okay, so the news in the press is, by and large, and as we all know, usually highly speculative, but if we all stopped debating news items appearing in the press, this site would be even duller than it already is.

It's really beginning to bug me that the mods on this site are sucking the life out of any half-decent bit of banter, and are ruining the experience for the vast majority of us punters who want to have a bit of fun, by pandering to that pathetic minority of fans who wouldn't know what a fun thread was if it came up behind them and kicked then up the arse screaming "I'm a fun thread, you plum! Now, smile FFS!"

A statement that is easily proven to be a lie by any one who cares to visit the Spurs board.

See what I mean? It's a few fans who try to spoil it for everyone else. If you don't want to indulge in a bit of banter, lock yourself in your bedroom and take up stamp collecting.

    What is your problem?

Go on the Spurs board, and you will see that I post there frequently.

Just because I take a view that either you (a) don't agree with, or (b) don't like does not mean that I am wumming.

    Why don't you grow up?

To be honest, White Hot Lane is a frequent poster on the Spurs board. Good, intelligent debate as well.

To be fair, that's because you were rubbing your cock over a Modric story that had been made up by The Daily Fail.

If you want to WUM, stay on your own board. You are more than welcome to come over to the Spurs board if you want to enter into a serious debate.

You know what, Chavboi? Actually, I don't mind you wumming our board, because it shows what we have a massive degree of tolerance. You only make yourself look silly, but that fact alone should not prevent you from saying what you want to say, even if (when you come onto our board) it is only to have a pop. You add interest to our debate, albeit that you don't know that. In a way, it's quite endearing.
