Spot on Nines and this is why i want Ned and Caulker now, not later. I dont want to see a new CB partnership "gelling" in early March or so..... I want then together now and solid and ready for the run in when Dunne will start struggling. I can forfeit a few games now (esp against Citeh) in the hop we have a formidable partnesrship ready to compete at the "pointy" end of the season.....!
Dunne did save Barton from a clanger just before he dropped his own to be fair. WTF was Joey doing? Headed it straight to their player. Lucky Dunne cleared it off the line.
Given the 2 scenario's you state above, I'd personally rather see a new partnership gelling in March when by then Dunne would have hopefully continued his form and our team have more points in the bag and could be nearer mid table than bottom. 'Forfeiting' games now in the hope we'll get a gelled centreback partnership for the end of the season is dangerous. We're bottom 2 at the moment but have a run of decent games coming up with points to be had. I want the best team out now to win those points. The future can't be seen, and injuries or new signings in Jan could change everything, and who knows, everyone saying Dunne will be struggling but he might, just might last longer than people think. The point being play the best team available now and try pocket enough points as no one knows what will happen in the future.
Something my sister said to me this morning. Remember that we are the only team that Costa (coffee) didn't score against. We are the only team that can say that so far this season. That was down to Dunne mostly and it was at the bridge. He has to be managed well cos of his age but I wouldn't be too harsh on him. Nobody's perfect, all of the time.
Methinks that this was a bit of reverse psychology by Swords. I suspect that Swords is just as big a fan of Dunne as I am.
I was absolutely flabbergasted watching the game this morning (recorded it obv) that the two "experts" Ruud Gullit and Jamie Redknapp were applauding Aguero at half time for his "brilliant" "stunning" goal whilst at the same time acknowledging that he handled it! Pair of arseholes, its cheating, don't they get it? And its always the big teams that get away with it. I hope Jamie went to Dads for Sunday lunch today and he gave the little twat a good slapping! Is it just me or do we look like we are ****ting a brick every time we are in front with ten minutes to play?
[ I certainly was yesterday - perhaps I should have gone for one of my 1966 World Cup Final walks around the block.
This . Onuoha would have done a Danny Maddix on Aguero IMO . Still , a good performance by the boys which bodes well for the rest of the season .
Fair enough Gloucester, and i think that Dunne would probaly feature in most peoples best team if it was to be picked now. My point was aimed mor at long term and even past this season and the future of the team. Also, do you remember the scintilating form that Ned was in at the end of last season. He was close on MOM for quite a few matches. Im confident that although he doesnt have Dunnes experience, he could probably make up for that in speed and general game play. Im not saying he's better but I'd like to see him and Caulker alongside each other at some time soon. It has to be the way forward for our club, Dunne has been magnificent of late but his pace is starting to show and we have to confident in our back up plan. Being beaten by a long ball over the top (ala Wimbledon) is simply not good enough for a Prem defender IMH) Im a fan of Dunnes, but as with Clint at LB or even Traore, we need to look forward. Nice problem to have really if you think about it Just my opinion
