Fernandes savours QPR turnaround after avoiding ârash decisionsâ 08/11/2014 By West London Sport twitter2 Tony Fernandes took to Twitter after QPRâs 2-2 draw against Manchester City, declaring that he was proud of the players. The Rangers chairman, who faced calls to sack manager Harry Redknapp following a dismal start to the season, also pointed out that the board did not make ârash decisionsâ when results were poor. Fernandes tweeted: âProud of our boys.gave the champions a run for the money should have beaten Liverpool and gave Chelsea a scare. Iâm a super proud chairman. âThought the ref had a poor first half . all credit to the boys. we showed what we can do today âLooking over the last few weeks when backs were against us. we kept calm didnât make rash decisions . should have got a point Liverpool and chelsea.â Vice-chairman Amit Bhatia tweeted: âFantastic football match. Unlucky not to get three points. Feels like weâve turned a corner. So proud of our team. @QPRFC #qpr #uurrrrssss.â And chief executive Philip Beard added: âI am so proud to part this club. Performances on and off the pitch outstanding and the support today was of the scale #weRtogether.â Charlie Austin scored QPRâs first goal â his sixth of the season â and set up their second before Sergio Agueroâs late equaliser for City. Austin tweeted: âBig point tonight! So many positives for the team right now. Fans were different class! âLove scoring but would always swap my goal for a win! Team most important. On to the next one!â Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, who was one of Rangersâ substitutes, wrote: âAnother great performance from the boys today, big point in the end! Great atmosphere.â And Râs midfielder Joey Barton, who returned to action after injury, tweeted: âGreat performance again from the lads. Great to be back. Could have been 3 points but for Sergio Aguero. The best striker in the country.â
I know swords but performances have got a lot better & with run of games against lower teams coming up we should move up the table hopefully.
Jeff, its premature. We shouldn't be patting ourselves on the back for something we've not done yet! We all know how funny football can be. You can play great against good teams and feel all fine and dandy but you take your eye off the ball and the average/sh*t teams come along and do you. I'd much prefer if we refrained from this kind of talk until we've actually won the games to be honest mate.
Yes agree it can come back & kick us in the nuts, optimistic at present but must get better on our travels & await Geordies next.
I said before City that the Newkie game would be even harder and I still think that way. Its a totally different assignment to the one we've just had. Hopefully we can pick up a point.
Leicester beat Man U and played well against Chelsea and Arsenal - then lost to Swansea, West Brom and Newcastle
Are you Flyer in disguise or Flyer's heir apparent? I honestly thought that was down to me until suddenly Redknapp remembered what football was all about. True it is we're still second bottom but we are not cut adrift now and Hull are only the 3 points they nicked off us in front of us. The last few games at home have been fabulous to watch and you can see the buzz that the players get from scoring and trying to score. If we can play with that level of conviction away from home against the other whipping boys we will get some results on the road. Redknapp deserves full credit for that turn around in attitude. The players look as though they're enjoying themselves and it's great to watch. The first seven games by contrast were as if they were all constipated and trying to squeeze out a turd. In fact that's how they played for a large part of last season. You are spot on however. If we don't play with that level of desire against the lower specimens of the Prem it will all be worthless. I'm a "pint half full" man at the moment. We can't guarantee clean sheets but the way we kept bouncing back against Liverpool, Citeh, Chelsea (and the ref yesterday) should give us all cause for optimism that we can score more than we let in over the next few weeks. I said a couple of weeks ago I'd rather give it a go and lose than lose with barely a whimper. You know what? The results against Liverpool, Chelsea and City were far better precisely because we played with that attitude and the performances got us behind the team. Bobby Z is at last being allowed to play the way he knows best. Putting himself about and teeing up others notably Charlie Austin. I hope we never again set up with a lone striker. And when it comes to his bedtime, it's nice to know we can simply push Vargas up and bring in another midfielder in to strengthen the midfield. We've got our football club and our mojo back.
Spot on Yorkie, if we're going down let's do it with all guns blazing. The Spurs and ManUre matches seem like a bad dream now, at least we're giving the opposition a run for their money. Keep that level up and we'll turn the corner...
Exactly No difference. The outcome will still be the same. There only is stay up or go down. Success or failure.
Get something after the international break against Newcastle and I think we can start to believe but TF hasn't learnt to shut up yet and IMO he needs to
I promised Flyer I would continue the good work as it was him that first pointed the rotten core to us all. I am passionate about our team and simply had enough of his bollocks … the Caterham thing has me worried Queens and that comes from me who also knows we will have a queen of any new investors should he go … It's the manner he has conducted himself in recent times and at times he is already famous and that is at the cost of our club … I want growth and stability and we haven't been very professional IMO … compare other chairmen of clubs in this league … could you even name them?
