I'm not one of the anti-McShane brigade - in fact I'm a big fan of him in many ways - but he was ****ing awful today.
Although one of threads I always read, I wouldn't have missed it this week. It feels wrong any players 'getting points' for that but... 1. Brady - average 2. Ben Arfa - looked like he knew what the ball was on the pitch for 3. Hernandez - sounds controversial but thought he did some good running and tracking back. I think its more that the service to him is so poor at the moment, rather than him being poor himself. Diame was the only one under consideration but he was largely ineffectual too. 4. Steve Bruce - publicly apologising to the fans and demanding the players come in tomorrow morning. I'm not a big fan of publicly calling your players but sometimes they need to realise what is in the realms of acceptability. Harper made a great save but otherwise made some very dodgy decisions. Macca did himself no favours, he's been mouthing off a bit this season saying he didn't deserve to be dropped etc but Daws won't have any problems winning his place back - he needs to think to himself, which club of similar or above stature would sign him? Also, Davies' overhead kick was ridiculous, there was someone to lay the ball off to in a half-decent position - it annoyed me at the time, then to see he got injured doing it just rubbed it in.
McShane and Brady were okay, Quinn and Ramirez improved things when they came on, but other than that, we were cack.
Boyd was way better than anything we had. He worked hard all game. He ran and showed good movement. When he got the ball he was a threat every time. Hernadez doesn't do the closing down we need. The service to him was poor and he had no real support. McShane was the best of our lot yesterday.
No-one on the pitch. Our kid for driving us there and back. Burnley Cricket Club for the warm welcome. The little blonde bird who sold me my pie but wouldn't swap shirts with me. All in all a ****e day out.
Ha. Did the same gonna Wembley. Our kid picked us up at 6am, I stepped out of the house drinking a bottle of Stella just to make sure i wasnt gonna drive there!!
sorry but that's garbage - good hard tackling defender - also scores the odd goal and can run out of defence with the ball and lay it off to someone - compare that with Alec Bruce who hoofs it, passes to the opposition and couldn't win a headed challenge if his life depended on it and as for running out of defence with the ball and laying it off - don't make me laugh - i can't understand why people like to slag off McShane but never complain about daddy's boy - perhaps they don't want to upset Brucie
No he's right we are 10 times better without McShane, it's just that we are also 100 times better without Bruce
People think McShane is amazing because he used to be absolutely useless and now he's better than he was, but he's still not good enough. I'd rather have Alex Bruce than McShane, however Michael Dawson is miles ahead of both of them.
