McShane didn't have a bad game yesterday, there were far worse performances from others.

I have thought so for years. He's had his moments, like goal vs cardiff but for every "brave" tackle he puts in, he tends to make a really poor and costly mistake.

I've just watched replays back and forth on MOTD and he is arguably to blame for their goal. For some reason he steps out of line and out of the box to track the ball carrier, who then passes it to the wing, by then the only defenders in our box are chester, elmo and I think brady, marking 3 Burnley men (3 on 3 isn't great). And by the time Calamity Mcshane comes back to do his job and stand in line, Chester in the mean time didn't know who to mark...as boyd (Mcshane's man) was alone. Chester opts to switch his marking from Barnes who he was in front of and could have cleared the header easy(the goalscorer) to Boyd and leaves Elmo having to scurry in front of Barnes which was hardly going to happen.

This is not the only thing either, thankfully, he gets away with things. Such as the shot that went wide with Macca trying clumsily to clear it, doesn't know whether to use his head or foot, he was never going to get to it.
Also a replay of a Burnley cross which Macca gets a free header to clear and heads hit straight to the ground for a combined 3 yards. Thankfully it didn't cost us.

Many of you will defend him and say "just an off game" but Mcshane is a terrible defender. His effort and energy have carried him in throughout his whole professional career but otherwise he's absolutely dreadful. If every single one of his little mistakes cost us we'd be shipping 5/6 goals a game. I'd rather start four at the back than include him in a 5 at the back.

Of course the rest of the team aren't perfect but I just don't get how Mcshane hardly ever gets a blame. He's some sort of ****ing saint it seems.

That's what I thought. Anyone at the game would have recognised McShane was one of our better players yesterday.
