I'm not actually that bothered about the FA Cup at this stage. I'd rather we lost tomorrow and beat Swindon than the other way around.
Don't want a replay either. It's just another game to possibly pick up injuries.

I'm not sure if the cup has lost its romance- There was a time when it was magic for me- Cup upsets happened occasionally and the days of the Prem team having to play on a park pitch that was like a bog, with Spartan changing facilities.

Even if we do win tomorrow we have the 2nd round to negotiate before the 3rd round and then our luck is to draw a lower league championship side away, that we inevitably lose to picking up only a small income along the way.

Its a long time ago since the magic of those games with Leeds, the matches against Liverpool where the floodlights failed and the game had to be replayed. Yes a romantic cup run would be nice, but lets keep to the main objective.

I agree - none of the cups really excite me any more tbh.

I suppose it would be nice to get a double though - league champions plus a cup - most likely the JPT - but hey ho, still a fun day at Wembley.....

    How about the Anglo-Italian cup?

Didn't we win that or come close at some stage?

    ?

Don't think we ever came that close to winning it did we ? It always seemed to be full of Serie B teams that were still much better than us...

I believe that the AI cup was born from the FA banning Swindon Town from competing in the European cup, following their FA cup win over Arsenal in 1969.
We always saw it as a tin-pot trophy, but the Italians held it in high esteem. In the first year, Swindon stuffed Napoli at the County Ground and it was big news in Italy but got a few lines in the English press.
The return fixture in Italy was abandoned - Swindon were winning 2-0 when the Napoli fans rioted and destroyed their own stadium!
