I'm starting to love hearing Phil Thomspson on a sunday morning
Don't think many people in the business think we are lucky any more...they accept us as a very good side that they enjoy watching. It is reasonable to say that how good we are will be clearer after we've played the 'bigger' sides in November/December. However, I don't think anyone expects us to rollover and die. No one (not even Chelsea) will take us for granted.
Just had a look at the Liverpool board. This was particularly amusing: From one poster: "Southampton making Rodgers look like a right ****ing **** tbh" Another poster: "Think they did that in the Summer. £49m on three players, one who never plays, one who was way over priced and one who is just ****."
Mane had a poor game, so Longs response was even more important. Keeps competition strong in the squad.
When you look at those games and the quality Saints showed, they were both very winnable games, especially pool. The one question mark was our play against WBA. But we have showed today that we can breakdown defensive teams. We will def lose eventually but it won't be because we did not play well, or deserve something from the game. This is not a lucky streak it is good team playing to their strengths, based on a defensive mentality. Long may it last.
See, told you we didn't need an early goal and we'd be good enough to break teams down... . Dear Ron, Next week, pleeeeeeaaaaase can we have an early goal
Good performance today apart from the final pass was too often the wrong choice, that's all that was missing from that been very good again. Big Vic was immense (the twat that sits a few rows behind me who shouted "oh how many times is he going to do that" after he gave the ball away late in the second half and that was the second tune he had done it, needs shooting). Ryan Bertrand showed just how good a player he is today; excellent performance. Fonte was very good and the rest were pretty good apart from the final pass.ane and Dusan just made the wrong decision too many times, but that's going to happen sometimes. Good win. Move on. "Next"
Mane wasn't bad. He looked more threatening than anyone else when he had the ball and caused some problems. He dives a little too much and is sometimes guilty of too much trickeration, which is annoying but he was still effective.
Good...City only got a draw. This means they can't overtake us next weekend when our match is delayed till Monday. I like 2nd and don't want to part with it even briefly. P.s. Funny how we beat an 'easy' team like QPR, yet City can't.
Sadio has an ongoing ankle problem and took at least three kicks on the same spot today, little wonder he was struggling, but he didn't want to come off!
This thread like most match threads goes. Postive(before match)> moan at half time about not playing well > celebrate another win.
