Reckons Connor Wickham and our other new signing will have to hit the ground running as SAFC has 'impatient' fans!

... Me, impatient?? .... Well, maybe a little bit!

Impatient, thats rubbish, we gave Jeff Whitley nearly 24 minutes before hurling abuse. That was 22 minutes longer than he deserved.

I think Marcus has a short memory as he was afforded a hell of a lot of time to get into the swing of things. He came and we were relegated but we stuck with him and he had a good time at SAFC. He was one of the better players during that time.

As for SAFC not being patient. Hows 40 ****ing years Marcus?

Malbranqueslastfag - I think on reflection, you will agree that it was actually 25 mins too long for Whitley? Lol

And from there it all went downhill very fast, the kid couldn't kick the skin off a rice pudding mate.

I think since the SOL was built we have picked up a boo boys section without a doubt. Unrealistic when it comes to expectationsand a lack of knowledge. The crowd always needs to have a scapegoat, someone to blame as well. The latest in line for this prestigeous honour is Kieron Richardson, Daryll Murphy was another, However the king of the scapegoats has to be Kevin Kilbane, that poor lad used to get slaughtered at times. I can remember one match we were playing and the game was going tit's up. No matter what Kilbane tried to do he continually tackled, or he gave the ball away, nothing was working for him. you could see he didn't want the ball but for about 10 minutes the ball seemed to track him down, much to the annoyance of fans, I cna remember thinking "come on Reidy give the lad a break" - never took him off, just left him to the mercy of the crowd. Twas very amusing. I also remember in the first half of the season at the SOL when King NIALL was the scapegoat. I do think it is a trend that has happened in the last 10 years for the crowd to be much more unforgiving - but then that is probably the result of the growing gap between footballers and the fans and the ludicrous money they are paid. Fans now demand more from people on £60,000 a week.

Exactly right marra. I can't stand hearing fans booing their own players. Is it going to make them play any better? No, but it will give the fans a bad reputation, as quoted by Marcus Stewart and Talkshite Radio this week.

Sorry but going back to the Roly Gregoire's of the world players have been targeted for different reasons. There was racism in the 70's and 80's, replaced by general dissent in the 90's and 00's. Today its just the disdain that footballers are held in for the vast wealth they have amassed and the very little they do for it.

I can recall Steve Whitworth in the 80's and Tony Cullen getting absolute dogs abuse, both departing Roker with the same 2 fingered salute to the heckling crowd. Likewise, Eric Gates got the full force of the boo boys in his first year at the club under McMenemy in the mid 80's. Gordon Armstrong and Gary Owers are two others that received abuse during their time at Roker. There have been many other since and it carried on into the SOL.

To think it never happened at Roker is simply looking at life through rose tinted glasses IMO. Footballers have ALWAYS been given the bird by supporter's at every club in the land. It has always been so and always will because its people passions that are affected not sensible thinking in the heat of the moment.

I dont think it is any worse than it was 20 or 30 years ago to be honest but it gets reported much more these days and that has changed.
