The thing is we have the players to be amazing, it's just not happening for us. We are in our first season out of the premier league and we have the money to get straight back up. It's just not happening for us. It's got to be the manager for me, surely.
Nailing your colours to the mast early doors this season Supers. Got to agree with you though. For all the good will in the world I just don't think its working.
we don't have a style. at least pulis would make the most of these players, who actually suit direct football
Thing is supers we have bags of pace in the team and a great midfield. It would be direct under Pulis but direct doesn't always mean ****. We need that directness to our play.
RE: Lafferty he had a bad game, but I think could come good if he got a chance at ST rather than in midfield. RE: Compromising on style, we're allegedly playing attractive football but it hasn't looked particularly attractive of late and it isn't getting us results or even that many goals. A team who are criticised for playing direct? Ipswich. Look where they are.
Completely agree with this, we're not playing to any blueprint. We've lined up in 4 or 5 different formations so far this season and yet to find one in which we actually consistently play well. A few games the results could be excused by playing reasonably well, but even that's dried up now. Jerome has played under Jerome at 2 different clubs, and we've got other plays suited to his approach. It's fine having footballing principles, but right now promotion is the most important thing for our club. If we can't beat them, join them.
exactly my point. pulis would work wonders with this squad - it suits him down to the ground (well, up in the air ). stop fannying around with tippy tappy stuff, get back to basics, use our pace, use some width and let's get back up the table. adams won't do this.
I want it work with Adams I really do but I just can't see it. It makes me feel sad really, I have a similar feeling like I did with gunny.
I meant more Norwich City's style historically as opposed to this season specifically. Not sure about all of our players suiting direct football. I certainly don't think Redmond, Howson, Murphy et al would benefit. Russ - it's not just one bad game for Lafferty is it? I agree that there's a good player in there but I doubt we'll see him under Adams.
You are living in cloud cuckoo land if you think Pulis would take the job on! There is no way that he would drop into the championship for any one.
What is our historical style? Sure we played decent football during our most successful spells, but for the last 15 years or so there has been no such thing as a Norwich style, and if I had to describe us with one word over that period, it certainly wouldn't be "attractive". Quick wingers and strong strikers would be the order of the day under Pulis, so Murphy, Redmond, Jerome, Lafferty would fit right in. I think Howson's got enough quality to fit into any style at this level.
I suspect David Moyes would be in the running for that one too, and in terms of reputation his is probably still better.
Couldn't agree more. He must deserve a top half prem team, let alone another relegation battle. But championship is just way too much of a step down.
I'd like to think we're a club which tries to play football. I think we should change, but don't think Pulis is the answer (as others have said he probably wouldn't take the job anyway). That said I'm not exactly full of alternative suggestions. Steve Cotterill, Carl Robinson....the usual suspects Zola etc
Carrabuh would give up being a supporter if Pulis did take the job! All that direct pacey football is definitely not his cup of tea!
Why don't we try and get MM from down the road in? I can't imagine Evans fighting tooth and claw to hold onto him
I certainly wouldn't say no to MacKay, as long as he has a clause in his contract which precludes him from crtain behaviours. He dropped the ball massively, but don't believe he's a bad bloke and would learn from his mistakes. Probably not a popular opinion mind..
