Two weeks international break now. Some of them will be back after it (if not, we still have Chester, McShane and Maguire for a back 3).
Id like to think Bruce isnt at fault here and he's doing his best to win games like this... but looking at the formation played today, the amount of attack minded players on the pitch and the complete lack of passion & effort on display, im starting to doubt our manager.. Yes the wing back formation suits us for the kind of players we have, but its not always the right one to use. A 4-3-3 would have been ideal today, have Brady, Hernandez & Ben Arfa upfront attacking, Diame, Huddlestone in midfield with Meyler just behind them in a more defensive role, and a flat back 4 picks itself, Robertson, Davies, Chester, Rosie.. It seems Bruce is putting our "best" players out there without giving the game much thought.
some strange decisions today the first real game I expect Ben arfa to take by the scruff of the neck and he's dropped for aluko
City players should do a Sunderland after that performance and reimburse all our supporters who paid to see that!
according to BBC we had 12 shots !!! it didnt feel like that TBH i think we went 4 or five game scoring 2 goals , then 3 without so much as a threat , this must be partly down to Jelly . . . is he back for Spurs ?
It depends how you look at it. 3-5-2 or 5-3-2.... You're clearly being pessimistic and seeing it as defensive.
The usual suspects Huddz & Davies & Jake & Harper will no doubt be Tweeting, the usual , hard game today, gutted to lose. Tough place to pick up points at Turf Moror. Yadda yadda ya..Yawn...
Having spent £36million (albeit a fair chunk recuperated by the Long sale) do you not think we should be doing better. I don't think it's unreasonable to be disgruntled with some things at City right now. Bruce keeps talking about a 'wonderful' start, is it really? We're 2 points off the relegation zone with Spurs, Man Utd, Everton and Chelsea up next. As it stands, QPR are 1 point behind and Sunderland are level with us. Who'd say those 2 have had a 'wonderful' start?
And just to make it worse QPR are 1 up against man City and that man Charlie Austin scores again. Why didn't we buy him ?
Brucey will have those not on international duty in for training in the morning. That'll teach those 7/8 players not to mess around again. I do hope they enjoy another two weeks break before the next match in between the horrible training they have to endure each day.
A better punishment would be to send them for a proper days work in a regular 9-5 job. Imagine the fun of that
Yes, yes and f**ing yes. Good start? We've pissed away points against Stoke, West Ham and Newcastle. Not to mention the fact we bailed out of the Europa League (once in a lifetime opportunity for us) at the second hurdle. And for what? To focus of the league? We've been mediocre at best. Teams that have good starts aren't two points off the drop with 11 games played. Teams that have good starts don't go out of the Europa League at the second hurdle. Teams that have good starts don't go out of the League Cup in the first round. Anyone who thinks we've had a good start is seriously deluded.
X rated Performance....and QPR have just scored against Man City for f** sake... Thats them starting to go on a little run...That's all we need
I was there today. It was truly awful from the start to the end. We played 3-5-2 but in reality it was 5-3-2 as our wing backs were pushed back all of the time. Boyd was outstanding in the first half. Elmo and Brady seemed to act as if the Burnley half was a no-go zone. Elmo had the worst game I've seen him play. Hed looked totally under-confident and never really pushed on and attacked their defence. Hernandez is not Chris Chilton so don't lump balls up to him. Aluko did his usual run round in circles and refuse to pass. Brady? Did he go past anyone and cross? Harper did Ok. For me, the MoM was McShane - doesn't that say it all? Apparently Bruce said they wanted it more than we did. Why? The passing was dreadful. We constantly put ourselves under pressure. Fair play to Burnley. It hurts to say this but they were the better team and thoroughly deserved to win. It could have easily been a bigger defeat. We never looked like scoring. It felt like watching two relegation candidates. A complete contrast to Liverpool away. We let Burnley into the game early on and encouraged their confidence. By the time we really tried to have a go at the end, it was too late. Still, two weeks to sort it out.
