We now seem to have adopted underachievement as the new norm - the more hope we have the worse things get!
Like DH, I was about to say I don't believe it, but of course I do. The second half was ALL Forest, we could barely string two passes together and all Adams did was bring on Lafferty who compounded the problem further. Some people will probably say that we were five minutes from a very good result but the signs were there way before Forest equalised and frankly, the way the game was going, we were never going to win it. **** knows why we've thrown everyone forward for a corner at 1-1 in the 93rd minute either - that's not even naïve, it's just moronic. I could write about 2,000 words more but I can't be arsed to waste my time on this ****ing club at the moment.
We're 10th, that's utterly ridiculous with a squad as strong and expensively assembled as ours. A few questions from today for me: -Why is Howson being used as a makeshift winger? We only made 1 sub today and had Murphy and Redmond on the bench. Why play him wide when you could bring a proper winger on? It's happened in our last two games now. -Is Lafferty more than a lean, mean card-collecting machine? Came on and was nothing but a hot-headed thug for 15 minutes. -Where was the attacking drive in that midfield? I said before the game I liked it as it should have allowed DM's to push forwards, but that didn't happen. Going forwards we look too disjointed. Looking for positives, Tettey, Howson and O'Neil were good I guess? Howson's early goal really hid a lot of the deficiencies in our side for a while. It was all Forest before the goal, we had a decent spell for 20 minutes after it, then it was all Forest for the rest of the game. If Howson hadn't scored that would have been a comfortable 3 or 4-0 for Forest.
Is Tony Pulis still looking for a job.... after a promising start to the season, I fear going for the cheap option is going to cost us. I want to believe in NA and give him time, but feeling bitterly disappointed after that game.
This is starting to feel like Championship Manager when you have given up worrying about training regimes, the line up and formation of the opposition, the fitness and roles of your players and even stopped peeking at the transfer market! Defeat, underachievement and everything that goes with it!
Another crushing dissapointment. Listened to second half and we were hardly in it. The binners moving up the table and more daylight between us.
No need to get personal. Granted, the swearing was a bit unnecessary but I'm angry. What exactly did I say that was stupid?
In terms of form over the last ten games we must surely be bottom three in the Championship? Many of the teams above us have significantly weaker squads on paper and almost all have a lower financial spend. Two great examples; Brentford and Ipswich. Mick McCarthy has done a fantastic job for the unwashed and it just goes to show how much difference the manager can make. Let's just say Re: Adams I'm thoroughly unconvinced.
I mentioned his name the other day, I'd definitely take him. The football might be direct, and effective rather than attractive, but he's got a track record of getting results and that's what we need this season. It can't be any worse than watching us now and tearing my hair out at how impotent we are.
Also there's a very strong chance that if appointed him and won promotion that he would be able to keep us up. Jerome has played under Pulis hasn't he? I think players like Turner would thrive under Pulis (admittedly Turner has played well under Hughton and Adams.
as a proud man, I genuinely hope neil realises he's not up to the task and resigns for the good of the club, just as peter grant did. he is totally blowing our chances of promotion. the squad he has will always pick up a few wins at this level - they're good players - but this is a slide towards mediocrity and it was all so avoidable. it can still be avoided by appointing a football manager
It's really frustrating that Lennon has gone to Bolton already, and is by all accounts doing very well (if only after five games). Pulis is an interesting one. It's a trade off with him and I'm not sure I'm quite at the stage where I'd be willing to compromise our style just yet. Not that we really have a style at the moment. Lafferty must have the most cards per minute in the football league. He's been the definition of a transfer flop so far.
