English clubs had pick of all British Isles players without restriction ie 5 countries whereas European clubs were restricted in their transfers.The likes of Hagi and Stoichkov had to jump the wall to play in Europe.Madrid won 5 in a row (I think) with mainly Spanish players.That's not to take away the feats of Forest,Villa and scousers but the set up was different those days which helped English teams.The Italians had restrictions in late 80's early 90's but didn't stop them dominating. All in all don't know what I'm talking about.
