SSN say and I would not be surprised at all, a fresh start may be whats needed.

I will be sorry to see him go because I like him and rate him but 3 into 2 wont go, Mig and Westwood bought by Bruce, not hard to work out.

Solves a few problems this one.

As long as we get a chunk of the money paid back, it takes another player of the wage bill who hardly plays.

Arsenal get a posotion filled by one of the best around.

Mig and Westwood will probably get along better, knowing that they are in competition alone, and not looking over their shoulder, waiting for Gordon to replace them.

But at the end of the day, gutted, cos he could be the best g/k around, and will prove it at Arsenal. I know this transfer would make sense, but not to pleased about it. Damn shame.

    Likewise not chuffed.

The Mig is very competent and if the new keepers up to scratch we would seem to have too many, but we must get proper value for Flash. A part-ex might be sensible, but the only likely candidate would be Bendtner and I can't see that happening.

That's can't be right, a £5m loss. Can feel a ransom situation happening here. Last year of contract etc.

Not good business for us if it is 4mil but, I can't see him playing anytime soon. His contract running down is the big worry so do we cash in now or wait and possibly lose him for nowt in a years time? If he goes he goes good luck to the lad, showed us doubters that he does have the ability if only in fits and starts.

Simply, Yes, if he can stay fit enough.

He'll be a revelation at Emirates.

We bought him for 9mil which for most of us was about 5mil too much. He didn't have a very good start to life with us then went on a very good run where he proved most wrong. Doesn't command his area too much but he is still young for a keeper especially so maybe that'll improve. He does seem injury prone which could be why only 4mil is mentioned but, if you do get him he will displace Czseny (spelling) as soon as he gets a chance and if he stays injury free will keep him out.
A very good keeper when fit.

Said it before will not miss a match for Arsenal.

He's a stubborn scot who's fell out with keane and SB. What is his injury, i've forgotten.
Would be my preferred 1st choice goalkeeper. Defence appeared more confident when he was there.

If he hadn't had a bad run of injuries SAF would have come in for him as a replacement for Van der Saar. He's that good a shot stopper. He has been a bit weak on crosses and commanding his area generally, but he was very young when we bought him and that side of things will improve with experience and confidence.

    If he can stay injury-free....

Gordon's a decent keeper, but to say Keane & Co paid over the odds for him at the time would be an understatement. imo 4 or 5 million is max we can expect for a keeper who isn't even a 100% starter when fully fit.

by far our best keeper, IMO but his injury places Bruce in a bad place. Risking not getting a new keeper in would be a risk to far and who could he get who would come in to sit in the reserves when Gordon was fit again, nobody better than Cason. So that leaves with doing what he has done, bring in a new keeper to fight for top spot, one has to go because neither Mig,Westwood or Gordon will settle for reserve football.

He has had 2 operations on his knee. I read somewhere, just recently, that it was his anterior cruciate ligament. He could be fit around late September, October time. I must admit that when we signed Westwood I thought that maybe this knee injury was worse than reported. Also if you remember SB said he could not offer Gordon a new contract whilst he is not fit as it would be fair to the club.

Is there more to this than meets the eye. If so any money we could get would be good business in my eyes.

Okay. IMO, Gordon is the best keeper at the club currently. Unfortunately, he is also the most underperforming wage we have after Mensah has been peddled. His string of injuries are long and extensive and the simple fact is, that he has played in only just over half of the games he should have for the Lads in 4 years - 152 league games / 87 appearances. There will be the odd cup game missed out from those stats but lets face it, not that many. When he plays he is good but when he has been out lately, have we missed him that much? Great shot stopper but suspect on long range shots IMO and not vocal enough to command his box.

A good keeper? Absolutely. Worth £9m? No way!

In the last year of his contract, I'd say if we can get £4m we should be grateful, as he could just sit it out and sign a pre-contract in 6 months time and leave for nowt in 12.

I like the lad personally but in Westwood and Mig, we have 2 keepers (who cost less than £2m between them) who will play more games and lead to a more settled back 5.

£4m? Snap Arsenes hand off Steve.
