If you have kids at school and they tell you that the police will be attending the school, best keep them at home that day. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...tion-young-colouring-competition-winners.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ys-girl-7-injured-firearms-demonstration.html I don't know what to say right now. Lost for words.
Normal enough thing here. I like the one where the 5 year old here got sent to the principal and had a temper tantrum and the police tasered him for not following police orders.
The police were at juniors primary school last week. Dawn raid, well just after assembly on the bike shed. Two seven years olds dragged out of class for having bald tyres.
What's wrong with pepper spray? Just eating my supper sandwich topped with 1.4million Scoville chile sauce. It is delicious. People in this country need to grow a pair and stop wincing at pathetic supermarket sauces like Tabasco and Encona. If that means being exposed to extreme chile at an early age I'm all for it.
Chile is the correct way to spell "chilli". It's a common misconception that chilli is the pepper fruit and Chile is the country. It should really be chile (for the fiery fruit of the Capsicum family) or Chile (for the country of which Santiago is the capital). http://mexicanfood.about.com/od/mexicancookingfaqs/f/chileorchili.htm Also, pepper is incorrect - chiles were labelled as peppers when first introduced in the 17th century (or thereabouts) because their fiery flavour lead many to believe they were related to the already introduced peppercorn.
This is why I love this place. I've just spent an aimless 10 minutes reading stuff about chiles and Chile and indeed, Chile chiles and also nailed down the definitive pronunciation of jalapeño. I retire to bed better educated than what I previously was.
Glad to be of help. Chile is one of two things I have a real passion for and feel the need to educate the rest of the world about. The other being Single Malt Scotch.
my mate and me had about 20 plants in his allotment. we got bout 3 kilo of fruit off them. i have 3 jars of chiles and garlic in veg oil. good year for the chile i reckon.
I like chile's. but would you know what possessed people to first eat it, given the first natural reaction of our ancestors would surely have been to spit it out and avoid it?
At a guess the endorphin rush caused by the pain gradually caused a tolerance to be built up, so it became a bit like a drug. At least that's how it is in my case! No idea really. The capsaicin in chiles only affects mammals however, not birds. The theory is that they evolved to repel mammals from eating them as they will not spread the seeds as it passes through them. Unlike birds that will fly good distances and spread the seeds far and wide.
Bit more for you Ernie. I was reading the Tabasco sauce bottle the other day after putting it on my beans on my full English, the peppers are matured in Oak barrels for up to 3 years. I just find that amazing, that's a lot of care and attention innit.
