Scholes says LVG and Di M unhappy: he misses Madrid and regrets being forced out to Manchester.

"Louis van Gaal talks about progress. I expected United to have a better record by this stage of the season. Under David Moyes last season United had 17 points from their first 10 games. This time, having spent £150million in the summer, they have 13 points from 10 games.'
Scholes also says he has become worried about the apparent downbeat mood of the squad after their underwhelming start to the campaign, especially in the case of record signing Angel di Maria.
'My concern is that the mood among the United players feels a bit low-key,' he continued. 'Preparing for the broadcast of the game in Madrid this week, I watched re-runs of last season and Angel di Maria smiling broadly as he celebrated goal after goal with Cristiano Ronaldo.
'He doesn’t seem to be in the same happy mood at United. It feels downbeat among the team.'

Scholes added that the Dutch boss has appeared a completely different character to the man who led Holland to third place at the World Cup, and that it can be tricky at times to decipher his thought process during matches.
'It is difficult to figure out what Van Gaal is thinking during games,' explained Scholes. 'His demeanour doesn’t change throughout. He looks a bit subdued. Certainly, he appears very different to the man you saw on the touchline at the World Cup.'

I think part of the problem with Di Maria is he isn't the big deal the Press tried to make him out to be.

Fair play, a decent player- but he isn't a superstar of the game... he's not a Falcao, for example. Anyone expecting him to be as prolific with the current United squad supporting him as he was for Real Madrid are going to be disappointed.

You must be referring to his man of the match performance in the CL final.

World class player playing among world class players won't be be able to play well. Interesting theory.

The reason Real lost La Liga last season was their performance in big games. They lost home and away to Barca, at home to Atletic and drew away.

Di Maria was hooked in all 4 games, one at half-time. Carlo identified this weakness in his side and got rid of it, Di Maria was desperate to prove himself but was forced out

He identified it so well that he continued to play him in every big game including continuing to pick him for the games you've mentioned. Way to go Carlo <laugh>

Di Maria is a good player but not a £60m player. Since he lost a yard of pace he has become a cross between Fabregas and Hazard, not as good as either but cost more than both put together.

Actually that is an insult to Fab and Hazard, more like a cross between Ramires and Schurrle.

United needed to spend £30m on a more conventional midfielder such as Pogba or Vidal. UIR said you were getting them... but next year is your year now apparently <laugh>

Funny how hes significantly better than both hazard and fabregas.

Di maria is top ten in the world. Hazard is the level below and fabregas isnt in consideration. Has fabregas been found yet after his disappearance the other week?

Is that why he was hooked again on 71... most subbed player ever in one La Liga season.

    He looked unhappy again today
