I read a similar theory to yours, and they suggested that it's why certain places, such as damp cellars etc are more succesptible to claims of haunting. Their theory was that, apart from the psychological and atmospheric elements, the moisture and other conditions lent itself to the theory.

Wow, what a refreshingly stupid riposte. Most of the idiots I know would just give some sort of stupid response. But you've actually given one stupider than that.

Oh no. Never mind, this guy's even thicker than you Happy. Rest easy.

Incidentally, I did say it lasts for a period of time. Hence the lack of 'cavemen ghosts'. It'd obviously disperse over time. The first cavemen existed around 20,000 years ago as Neanderthal men, I'd say that was enough time for it to disperse.

Yeah, you'll often find the places that claim to be the most 'haunted' are often in ill repair or with extremely poor structural integrity. Most probably have insects, rodents and the like living in the walls. I've done a few walk rounds (by myself) in some so called haunted places and most of it you can put down to external influence. You also have things like heightened suggestibility; if somebody tells you the building is haunted by a specific figure, you're more susceptible to tricks of the mind making you see what you've been told. It'd be interesting to do it with a neutral in a control environment, but I just can't be bothered. Hopefully somebody else will.

    I rarely stop smiling.

Never when I see one of your posts, obviously, but most of the rest of the time.

they sound like rubbish scientists. seriously, just because they can invoke certain reactions in one way is not proof that the reactions can't be invoked in a different way. if i smack someone with a piece of glass and it makes their face bleed, it doesn't prove that car accidents don't exist.

All paranormal activity is a result of distorted brain activity.

Because all activity is merely epiphenomenal metacognition.

No reality exists beyond conscious thought.

Thought is not however a dualism.

Perception is of a self-generating internalisation.

The totality of being is an absolute idealism.

In other news some bloke ate a woman's eyeballs.

    Sick or what?

Edit. just remembered the topic, hope he doesn't come back as a ghost and scare me.

The Mosted Haunted programme has visited the "most haunted" places all over the UK and other countries for over 10 years now.

In all that time they've never filmed a "ghost".

Pretty much kills the debate here and now.

Due to the fact that ghosts are made up of energy, and energy cannot be destroyed, I am fairly sure that there are ghosts - Energy cannot be dispersed, it is transformed.
But acknowledging ghosts means that there must be a higher power that created the souls in the first place, and as this board has repeatedly informed us all that there is no such thing as god, I am sure that all you small minded superficials are happy in your own small world.

Souls... end of conversation... load of ****.

The one that really bugs me the most is people who are adamant that ghosts are real but also adamant that alien life doesn't exist, with no remote understanding as to the actual physical size of our universe and just writing the idea off because an alien race hasn't introduced itself to us at this point in time...

In fact, I had this debate with one person who said ghosts were real. They tried to catch me out and mention aliens to which my response was:

"I'd be damn well shocked if in the size of our universe in it's near infinite magnificence there is not one other form of life, even more intelligent than us"

    The rebuttle:

"Well that's stupid... how can you prove this sofa's real then?"

I honestly didnt know what that meant or to this day how to respond to that. And they thought they'd won their argument!

I'd say each to their own, if you want to believe in a higher power and believe in ghost, good luck to you.
I can't prove nor disprove the existance of anything I can't see, however I am gonna keep my faith - if you don't wish to believe in anything bigger than yourself and your own ego, that is totally up to you.

I can see nothing in anything that remotely points to a "ghosts" inexistence.

So what are we defining ghosts as exactly? The soul?
