Leeds served winding-up petition Football Posted at 14:46 Championship side Leeds United have been served with a winding-up petition. While Ken Bates was chairman of Leeds, former United director Melvyn Levi and his business partner Robert Walton were accused of dishonest dealings by Bates, but the case was struck out of court. The unpaid fees amount to around £150,000 and the hearing is set to be held on 13 January. Nick Collins, senior partner at Ford and Warren Solicitors who served the petition, told BBC Radio Leeds the dispute was not with news Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino, who he says "inherited" the issue.
A winding up order. ? Is that the club, pays a fine or ceases to be a club. Is that like liquidated.??
No, it's nothing like that, it's just a way of trying to get your bill paid if you're being ignored by whoever owes the money.
Why? We go and get a result at Watford which sends you up automatically and that's the thanks we get. Selfish bastard!
We went up based on a whole season's results. The six points we took off you were a great help, so thanks for that.
We only needed a draw that day which we had and you was draing. but you went onto win. So you didn't send us up.
Even though it's Leeds, I hope they get sorted, I'd say that of any side. I don't particularly like Portsmouth but felt sorry for their fans when they dropped like a stone. It's not all that long ago that we were being wound up every other week & what was it we expected? Sympathy! Did we get it? Yes, I recall some of those games where coins were put in buckets, thrown into sheets & it wasn't just the Hull City fans doing it. It was other teams supporters that had come to Boothferry Park. I'm not saying I want Leeds to do well or anything but it'd be a sad day if they ever went under.
Nothing against Leeds fans from Leeds. Unfortunately round my way I am surrounded by people who supposedly can't stand Wessirs but who adopted Leeds when they were doing well. Some inadequates because they thought they were somehow hard because of loose connections to the Service Crew, others glory hunters who justified their support on the basis Leeds are a Yorkshire club. So are City, their nearest clun. So are Halifax and Doncaster but they didn't choose them either. For years they took the piss about City but now the boot is on the other foot get stroppy and can't take it when the piss is taken out of them. Wouldn't want any club to go out of business but would be happy to see them stuck in perpetual mediocrity. See how many would be Marching On Together after as long in the bottom division as we were.
Fantastic news to round the week off with, shame its just 150 and not a number maybe 10000 times more
Although not a Leeds fan I've never really understood the alleged hatred of the team when the team they did have in the 60's 70's and some part of the 80's were equal to anything Lancashire or London could produce. The era of Bremner, Giles, Madely, Charlton, Hunter, Cooper etc were hard but so were many of their opponents and the fact that Hull City got one of their crown jewels, Billy Bremner, who I though at that time when he joined city when in his mid 30's, was class amongst a sh*t Hull City team. His speed was gone but his vision, passing and footballing brain was still there for all to see, pity some of City's players were too thick to take advantage of some of the stuff he was doing. Then we got yet another class player from Leeds, as manager, and although not a success in any way, Eddie Gray was still in his day a class player. As I say all of us have 'a favourite team' but looking at football from less myopic viewpoint, Leeds, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and even Nottingham Forest were power houses in both domestic and European football. Their record stands for all time I can only hope that Hull City can emulate some of the success, something I have longed for as long as I've been both a Hull City and football fan.
Have to feel sorry for their fans....not the idiots who ran them into the ground financially. They were once a top club. We were close to going down the same road.
I hope you get it sorted it is not nice for any club to go through stuff like this, idiots who want leeds to suffer just because they are leeds utd are stupid fools and do not really appreciate football at all
I don't hate the Club just the glory hunting Hull whites, wouldn't piss on 'em if they was on fire. Wouldn't like to see any Club go under.
