Nugent? ... 10 games 1 pen ... Cambiasso at Stoke changed the game comoletely ... he has been very good whenever there have been options and he rarely wastes the ball ... Nuge on the other hand ...
If any of you guys are bringing partners to Southampton who are not going to the match with you then you might like to tell them about the historic walk of the old town of Southampton that begins at the Bargate at 2.00 pm - an absolute must for any visitor to our fine city. Given the recent business of Richard III and Leicester they would be excited to know about the royal associations with our medieval town. PS If it is a partner then he or she can't be putting a dent in the bank balance by going shopping if they are underground in our vaults whilst on a walk !
He'd better keep us up! ... he needs to be more positive against the 'perceived' weaker teams ... if we'd approaced the last 4 games like we did against Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United I think we'd have taken more (some) points ... hope we don't just try and contain against you ... if we do we'll lose again ... I suspect (and hope) that we will attack more - there has been lots of internal spiel about how we have been concentrating on crossing and finishing ... if we do 'go for it' it should make for a very entertaining game.
I worked in Southampton jobcentre and live on the Isle of Wight so I'm surronded by Saints fans (not as many Pompey fans anymore..). It always makes the game even better with all the banter that arises. I can see us getting at least a point out of this game. They're due a loss and we're due a win. Schmeichel De Laet Morgan Moore Konchesky Cambiasso Mahrez Hammond Schlupp Nugent Ulloa Smith, Knocky, Drinks, Kingy, Simpson, Vardy, James
I agree with you. Sacking Pearson isn't going to work; we'll only be able to replace him with some out of work crackpot like Sven or Felix Magath.
That is the kind of logic Lawro uses. He said we were due a loss last week and we won. Cannot see you leaving St Mary's with anything.
Last time we played away at Southampton they were riding high at the top of the table, we were pretty mediocre, and we comfortably won 2-0. Even Matt Mills managed to score! We've been playing other teams that are scrapping recently and it's been going terribly, but we looked much better earlier in the season against the top teams. The pressure will be off us to get a result (although obviously the pressure's now on to get out of the relegation zone). However, I do fully expect us to get thrashed.
If you win tomorrow, it will be a bloody fantastic result for you and I will be the first to congratulate you. But I'm struggling to see how it will happen.
It won't but come on! do us a favour, you don't need the points, your well above your predicted final position Until we get a settled midfield, we will continue to struggle. Pearson, choose a squad and stick with it!
Team Schmeichel, De Laet, Morgan, Wasilewski, Schlupp, Cambiasso, Drinkwater, James, King, Vardy, Ulloa Subs- Smith, Moore, Konchesky, Mahrez, Powell, Nugent, Wood
88 minutes ... and we have just had our first scoring chance ... I am seriously pissed off with our lack of fookin ambition ... too fookin predictable ... "Leicester's brave and stubborn resistance" ... not what I want to be watching Nigel ... no ambition, no creativity and (predictably) no fookin points ... ffs change the record... this cannot go on or we are going down and you will be out of a job. Jeff Schlupp was probably our best player on the day ... Leo Ulloa - poor sod - 5 games without a worthwhile cross ... and Matty James can't take a fookin corner to save his life ... what the fook are we doing in training?
Biggest mistake Pearson made was believing this championship squad was good enough to play in the prem. We don't know what sort of budget he was given in the summer, if it was around 10 million, then he bought what he could and will remain in the job. If he showed his usual arrogance and spent little thinking he had enough to compete, then maybe the ice is cracking under his feet
