Seems there is interest in him, but can we let him go? Wonder which teams these are? Serious question..would you give him another try? A QUEUE of Championship clubs are interested in taking Sunderland striker Danny Graham on loan. Graham was again on the bench for Monday nightâs victory at Crystal Palace, with the out-of-favour striker likely to remain among the substitutes for the threadbare Black Cats against Everton this weekend. Last week, Brentford were hopeful of sealing a loan deal to sign Graham until January, before the Bees opted to pull out of the move. But Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has revealed that Brentford are just one of a host of Championship clubs who have enquired about taking Graham on loan. However, any loan approach needs to be acceptable financially for Sunderland, while the Black Cats can ill-afford to lose another body at present due to their injury problems. Poyet told the Echo: âThere are plenty of Championship clubs looking at him. Plenty. âBut I think everyone needs to be happy. âApparently he was going (to Brentford) and then it collapsed. âThe situation with Danny is a little bit unfair because (Steven) Fletcher has been so good in the last few weeks that he deserves to play. âThe problem has been finding a partner for him. âItâs definitely not Danny because heâs more of a central striker. âBut depending on the numbers, he could be on the bench again or depending how we play. âThere are moments when you have so many injuries as well that you canât let him go.â With Lee Cattermole and Patrick van Aanholt joining fellow absentees Billy Jones, Emanuele Giaccherini, Ricky Alvarez and Sebastian Coates for this weekendâs visit of Everton, Poyet expects to include one or two members of the Under-21 squad on the bench. Left-back Tom Robson, centre-half Tom Beadling and winger Duncan Watmore all trained with the first-team squad last week. However, Poyet is wary about throwing the youngsters into the starting XI. âWeâre talking about whether itâs a good time to bring someone up from the U21s,â he said. âWeâre down to the bone in terms of defenders and with Lee suspended, thereâs going to be a couple of kids on the bench. âBut in the positions I would consider (in the starting XI) thereâs no-one ready yet. âLast week Robbo trained with us and Duncan because we needed a winger and a defender. âBut you work depending on what you need and not for the sake of bringing up a player. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/sunderland-striker-attracting-interest-1-6935804
Swansea must be pissing themselves laughing. FFS, even John Stead scored one. £5m for that prick - cheers Marty.
Move him on ! It wouldn't surprise me if Wickham was also sold in January and two new strikers were brought in.
We bought him on the back of scoring 12 goals in 36 Premier League games in his first season up in the PL, lost his place there to Michu the following season who was on fire. I know we haven't seen much but Suarez would have struggled to score with our service. I personally would keep him till we have a replacement . Fletcher gets injured and it's Conner and Jozy, neither who have done it for a full season in the Premier. Like it or not Graham did. Would never have bought him in the first place but know where Comm is coming from. Keep him till January.
I'd happily loan him out personally. Would rather see Altidore up front than Graham and that's saying something!! He had one good season in a totally different set up to ours - I agree he would probably score in a "right place right time" mould like he was at Swansea but we do not play that type of football. Also the 12 goals stat doesn't do it for me - Papiss Cisse scored boatloads at first then was terrible for over a season. Graham is a one season PL wonder and is a championship level footballer IMO
Its pointless now weakening the squad till we can actuallu strengthen it in January. Like said above, an injury to Fletcher and he could be called upon. I can actually see him Wickham and Altidore all leaving in January and us bringing in a versatile forward who can play across the front 3 and possibly an additional forward on loan.
I aint a fan of him Marcus, but what if we did end up with Jozy main striker, he has been a no season wonder at Hull and here. Graham didn't have a second season at Swansea, he came here in January to a team woefully struggling and didn't deliver. I thought he had a good game in our first 3-0 through there, gave Saylor a right hard time. We have put up with him for 22 months, two more until we get a replacement is no big problem. On a more exciting note, who would everyone like to see come in as our January forward ?
Well if you go with Saga someone might confuse him as a Hero on his travels. Arduous Ordeal fits better for me like.
A 9 iron around the back of the napper of both might serve some purpose. Total ****ing waste of 11 million knicker.
Can't see us having much money to throw about so I think it will be a domestic loan. Joel Campbell could be a good option, hes quick and could play in all three front positions like Borini. He wants out of Arsenal and will be looking to make an impact somewhere to get a summer move.
The fact that all the interested clubs are from the championship tells its own story for me. I can`t see us ever getting much of a return tbh.
