We all struggle with finances at times, but how does one of the successful players ever to grace our pitch, go bankrupt? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-29895649 Poor old David. He always seems so 'together' and thoughtful. There's many more I would expect to have difficulties before him.
I wouldn't expect that from him either, shocking considering what salaries he must have had through his career. What is auctioning off his stuff really going to raise though?
In economics it's called (or used to be, when I studied economics) the ratchet effect. Adjusting to a much smaller income is very difficult. I am surprised that more players don't end up the same way.
It's a shame that he has got into this position. I notice in the report that the BBC once more avoided mentioning Watford.
Considering how Lee Hendrie behaved towards one of my friends when he was at Villa; throwing £20 notes on the floor and mocking him for not having as much money. Seeing him in financial strife gives me a somewhat wicked case of smug satisfaction.
That's horrible, hockdude, I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like he was a right dick. But he's the sort I would expect it to happen to, not David James.
View attachment 34077 I took this screenshot of the BBC Watford page. The first 'headline' (which is not the headline if you follow the link) suggests things are more serious than I first thought.
