Seems a lovely bloke. Always seems to have all the time in the world for everyone and loves the club greatly too.

He's a top bloke. The amount of work he has to do is unbelievable! Being kitman is a huge job and he works so hard. I hope every single player appreciates the job he does.

Kitmen at clubs are often a bit of a joker, or the complete opposite: a sour puss.

It's not a job anyone on the outside thinks of doing, but what a great one. We can't all be footballers, but being part of the kit team has everything that makes for a happy working life: interesting environment, working in a team, meeting great people, being on the inside, travel, and pride in your work. I'm sure Forbesie and his team feel involved in every victory. Do a job you enjoy and you will never have to work again (as the saying goes). Forbesie will also be allowed to carry on as long as he likes...SMS can change all about him, but he will still be there.

A humble scarf for a humble man. The scarf should a continuing symbol of our affection of the great man.

Just as Liverpool fans raise their scarves during YNWA then we should all raise ours during there's only one Markus Leibherr. We don't usually bring the scarf out for any other song.

Loved the quote from his mother...You never knew when Markus left the house if he was going to the corner shop or South America <laugh> He went to Southampton and came back with a football club.

If you put it that way then yes. But Managers come and go. He could be here for 2 seasons or 20 seasons but not forever. Markus' legacy will be remembered forever.

If anything the academy thread should be the one renamed after Markus as the academy represents what his vision was. Pin that one to the top.

Maybe the 'off topic' thread should be renamed after the last player / manager / staff member that has left the club :)

Les giving out a message nice and bluntly here. I like it. Hope TB and lovren read this.

Whether the guys who’ve gone look back and go, ‘Perhaps I shouldn’t have left,’ it doesn’t really bother us.

I don't know if anyone saw BBC South Today's effort on reporting the official opening but it started like this......... "3 months late and 18 million pounds over budget, Southampton FC's new development centre was finally unveiled today............".
They really are a miserable bunch at ST with regards to Saints. Anyone know why?

The Sports Editor is Tony Husband. He says anything positive about Saints through gritted teeth.

Hmmmm., living in the meridian area I am familiar with the gritted teeth routine through mr pompey, Fred dinenage, it was his smugness when pompey were doing well that go me.

He even got an MBE.

Amazing. I heard that song once back in '76 and yet I remembered every word of it. I still regularly sing it. I had no idea there was a recording of it. Brilliant.

Brilliant, thanks Don. My brother actually bought a Jasper Carrott LP with that song on it, but I haven't heard it in probably 30 years. Hilarious and poignant. RIP Stokesie.

Apparently the kit men wash the goal nets...I never even gave a thought to goal nets being washed, never mind who did it :)
