I don't hate cricket, I played it myself for a while. Just not something that gets my interest. I do take a interest in the Ashes though. Bit like Tennis and Wimbledon.

French cricket on the beach with the kids is OK. Crickets the insects are OK- as far as insects go. Cricket the mobile phone provider is a good low cost alternative, so I'm told.

Cricket the game, where a bunch of gay toffs throw balls at each other and then have gay sex during the lunch break is kinda boring... unless you're into gay toffs, which I suppose is OK if you are... but I'm not.
