Not entirely sure why he got the contract extension to be honest. He joined us as a first year scholar in August 2011 and was a member of the squad that became National Academy champions in 2011/12. At that time he was doing fine scoring hat tricks for the U18s side, against Watford and Bristol City. But an ankle ligament injury prevented him making an appearance in the Premier Academy League Final. He overcame that and was promoted to the U21s in the 2013/14 season and scored his first two goals at that level in a 3-1 win against Blackburn Rovers.

Described as a box to box midfielder, he can also play as a support striker. However he's never stood out amongst the crowd. Maybe this loan spell will help but I doubt he's got a longer term future at the Club.

The weekend round-up from the Club:

Ryan Tunnicliffe played the full 90 minutes of Blackburn Rovers’ 1-1 draw away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. The visitors had fallen behind shortly before half-time when Gary Gardner struck, but they needed just six minutes after the restart to draw level when top scorer Rudy Gestede headed in via the woodwork. The point moves Rovers up to seventh place in the Sky Bet Championship.

In the First Round of the FA Cup with Budweiser, Marcello Trotta made his Barnsley debut in their 5-0 home win over Burton Albion, with Ryan Williams also featuring.

The Italian striker went close to putting the Tykes in front inside 10 minutes when his half-volley was cleared on the goalline, before shooting narrowly wide shortly after. The breakthrough arrived moments before the interval when a double from Sam Winnall put Barnsley in control of the tie, with Conor Hourihane then making it three on 56 minutes.

Williams departed the action just after the hour mark to be replaced by Keith Tracey, with Winnall nabbing his hat-trick 13 minutes later. Trotta then made way for Devante Cole – son of former Fulham man Andrew – who wrapped things up late on.

There was another debut in the competition for a Fulham man as Lyle Della Verde came on as a 58th minute substitute in Bristol Rovers’ 1-0 defeat at Tranmere Rovers. Max Power had given Tranmere the lead from the penalty spot four minutes previously, and Micky Adams’ men held on to secure safe passage to the next round despite going down to 10 men when George Donnelly was shown a red card for violent conduct.

Stephen Arthurworrey enjoyed a more prosperous afternoon as Yeovil Town came out on top of their all-League One cup clash against Crawley Town. Jordy Hiwula – on loan from Manchester City – scored the only goal of the game early on when he got the better of defender Joe Walsh and rounded the keeper before slotting home.

In Greece, Kostas Mitroglou came off the bench to score the final goal of Olympiakos’ 5-1 demolition of Panthrakikos. An Alejandro Dominguez penalty and an own goal by Athanasios Papageorgiou put the Reds in control of the game by half-time, before Anastasios Avlonitis made it 3-0 on 76 minutes.

Panthrakikos pulled one back through a penalty of their own when Jose Maria Cases converted from 12 yards, but Dimitrios Diamantakos restored the three goal lead before Mitroglou – who had entered the action with quarter of an hour left to play – got in on the act in stoppage time.

On Thursday, Alexander Kačaniklić played 90 minutes as FC Copenhagen were humbled 4-0 at home by FC Bruges in the UEFA Europa League. A 36-minute hat-trick from Lior Rafaelov meant the game was all but over by half-time, with Ruud Vormer making sure with another on the hour mark. The result leaves Copenhagen sitting third in Group B, three points behind second placed Torino, with two matches still to play.

Isn't Max Power the alias that Homer chooses when he decides to change his name in a Simpsons episode? He got it from the controls of a hair dryer, I think. Love that there's a footballer with the same name.

Max Power - he's the man with the name you'd love to touch. But you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it, you mustn't fear! Because his name can be said by anyone...

Perhaps I've missed something here Surlyc, but it does appear the drugs are taking their toll on you today.

Let me know what you are on, and I'll avoid at all costs <cheers>

As we all knew some of the players that Kit inherited just don’t seem to be in his current plans and not unreasonably he’s now paving the way for them to move, even if only temporarily -

Kit Symons is ready to let Fulham's fringe players leave Craven Cottage on loan.

Summer signings Mark Fotheringham and Adil Chihi haven’t featured since Felix Magath left the club in September and are way down the pecking order. Youngsters Chris David and Cameron Burgess have also failed to make an impact since Symons took charge.

The Cottagers chief says he is willing to let some players go out before the loan window shuts later this month. He said: "The squad is top-heavy in certain areas and we’re a bit light in others. Maybe some players are getting frustrated and I understand that. We have got a big squad and players want to play football. Some of them are at different stages of their career and I’ll speak to every individual.”

"We will actively encourage the young players to get out on loan for their development and to hopefully improve and come back with a view to playing in our first team."

"Other more senior players who want to get out on loan, we will listen to that but we’ve got to do what’s right for the football club. I’m conscious of the individuals as well. I will be honest and tell them the truth. You can come to an agreement that suits all parties.”

I fully expect these two to just run down their one year deals with us and move on in the summer. I doubt anyone else would pay them what we are paying them and I doubt they would be eager to drop down the leagues to play regular football, since it might undermine their perceived value in the summer.

Cameron Burgess is 19, so I'd expect a short loan deal to get first team football. Who knows what will happen with Chris David, who seems to have inherited Patjim Kasami's role of talented youngster with attitude issues.

I think as well as attitude problems, there could also be a weight problem.

Jack Grimmer's loan has been extended, although we have the right of recall.

" Fulham defender Jack Grimmer has seen his loan spell with Shrewsbury Town extended until January. The right-back will now stay with the Sky Bet League Two Shrews until Saturday 3rd January.

Grimmer has earned rave reviews since joining the Shropshire side in October, helping them to four wins from as many league games to help Town up to third place in the table.

Fulham have the option of an immediate recall on the player."

Weekend round-up from the Club -

"In Sky Bet League One on Saturday, Stephen Arthurworrey played 90 minutes as Yeovil Town slipped to a 1-0 home defeat by Fleetwood Town.

The Glovers had chances to win the game but were made to pay for their missed opportunities when Jeff Hughes netted in the 87th minute, condemning Yeovil to the bottom of the table in the process.

Jack Grimmer played 90 minutes as Shrewsbury Town secured a sixth consecutive League Two win by seeing off Mansfield Town 2-0 at New Meadow. The visitors were up against it after just half an hour when midfielder Jamie McGuire was sent off for two bookable offences, and they found themselves behind on 59 minutes when Bobby Grant thundered home from just inside the box. James Collins made the game safe from close range on 75 minutes, as Shrewsbury moved up to second in the table.

In the Vanarama Conference, Lyle Della Verde was named man of the match on his full debut as Bristol Rovers came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Kidderminster Harriers. Nathan Blissett had given Harriers the lead midway through the second half, but the Pirates earned a point when Della Verde’s inviting cross was turned in by Matty Taylor on 83 minutes.

The result keeps Rovers in the Play-Off places, and manager Darrell Clarke was pleased with Della Verde’s contribution, stating on the club’s official website: “He was a real threat and I thought he was excellent. He put some great deliveries into the box and I feel he has a great future. He’s enjoying his football with us after patiently waiting for his first start and I hope his good form continues.”[/I[

Mixed weekend for the lads on loan (and not a lot of game time for most of them):

” Ryan Tunnicliffe helped turn the tide as Blackburn came back from a goal down to defeat Leeds United 2-1 at Ewood Park. With Rovers trailing their visitors 1-0 after Souleymane Doukara’s 33rd minute close-range strike, Tunnicliffe was introduced for Lee Williams on 65 minutes.

Jordan Rhodes levelled the scores on 71 minutes but Tom Cairney’s 82nd minute red card for a second bookable offence put Gary Bowyer’s side down to ten men. Despite the setback, the home side completed the comeback as Rhodes doubled his tally from the penalty spot on 88 minutes, taking Blackburn into the Sky Bet Championship playoff spots in sixth place.

Marcello Trotta was introduced as a 63rd minute substitute with Barnsley two goals down against Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium. League One’s top marksman Eoin Doyle netted his 15th and 16th goals of the season on 42 and 58 minutes. Trotta’s arrival, in place of James Bailey, preceded Keith Treacy’s 85th minute consolation but the Spirites ran out 2-1 winners.

Ryan Williams was not selected in the Barnsley squad, in his first game back after his appearances for Australia Under-23s in a four-nation tournament in China last week.

In League Two action, Stephen Arthurworrey and Jack Grimmer both played 90 minutes in roller-coaster matches for Yeovil Town and Shrewsbury Town respectively.

Yeovil launched a late comeback at Notts County after the home side led through Michael Petrasso’s 63rd minute goal, despite Gary Jones’ 29th minute red card. Arthurworrey was shown a yellow card on 70 minutes before the late drama, when Coventry City loanee Jordan Clarke struck on 84 and 88 minutes to swing the game and clinch a 2-1 victory for the Glovers.

Grimmer was on the other end of a turnaround, with Shrewbury going into half-time two goals to the good against Exeter City, through James Collins’ 13th and 34th minute efforts at St James Park. But the Grecians flipped the game on its head in the second half to win 3-2. Tom Nicholls hit back a minute after the break, David Wheeler equalised on 75 minutes and Nicholls scored again, a 90th-minute winner, to leave the Shrews facing a long trip home empty-handed.

Bristol Rovers saw a two-goal lead slip at Chester FC in the Vanarama Conference Premier after substituting Lyle Della Verde in the 66th minute for Jake Gosling. Nathan Blissett and Tom Parkes' goals on 51 and 58 minutes gave the Pirates the advantage, but Rhys Oates and Matty Hughes' efforts on 68 and 70 minutes brought the scores back level and it finished 2-2.

On the continent, Alexander Kačaniklić featured for 90 minutes in FC Copenhagen’s 1-0 victory over Silkeborg at Telia Parken. Nicolai Jørgensen scored the decisive goal in the 36th minute. The Swedish international winger was withdrawn in stoppage time for Daniel Amartey, as the Lions held on to stay third in the Danish Superligaen.

Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg was an unused substitute in AS Monaco’s 2-2 draw with SM Caen at Stade Louis II.

Olympiacos return from a two-week fixture break on Wednesday as Kostas Mitroglou and co. travel to Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League to play last year’s finalists, with both teams fighting to qualify for the knock-out phases as first host second in Group A.”

"Lyle Della Verde played 90 minutes on Tuesday as Bristol Rovers claimed an impressive 2-1 victory over Vanarama Conference leaders Barnet at the Memorial Stadium.

Matty Taylor had put the hosts in front with just four minutes played when he collected a ball over the top and fired beyond Barnet’s debutant on-loan West Ham United goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel at his near post. Nathan Blissett almost doubled Rovers’ advantage only to see his overhead kick cleared off the line by Sam Togwell, before a Della Verde run culminated in a shooting opportunity for Taylor who couldn’t quite get his strike away in time.

The Pirates were made to pay for their missed chances seven minutes before the break when Luisma Villa found the net with a 30-yard free-kick. Both sides had chances to grab all three points in the second half but it was Rovers who managed it when Della Verde’s stoppage time corner was turned in by Angelo Balanta.

The result saw Bristol Rovers move up into the Conference Play-Off zone, eight points behind Barnet who remain top."

Straight swop with Jack then. That's a good move for Josh - in fact, although I understand Grimmer going in the first place to get game time, arguably, Passley should have been the one going to get experience.

In his lunchtime press conference Kit said that he had received a number of enquiries ahead of today's deadline on loans. Josh presumably was one of those. Another name being thrown around is Matt Smith going to Bristol City.

After making three appearances for the Whites this season, the Australian made the temporary switch to the Sky Bet League One outfit for whom he has run out seven times.
