    As the title says really.

I've just got an Xbox One and it has apps such as Netflix, Amazon Films, etc... and I was wondering if having one of those ends up cheaper than paying for Sky Movies (but comes with the added bonus of box sets).

Does anybody have any of these services and, if you don't mind me asking, what do you pay and what does your plan include?

I had Netflix for a month, but I found it rubbish, could never find anything I wanted to watch.

Problem was I had used streams and the like to watch the big TV shows such as Breaking Bad, so it was useless really for moi.

It is good value for money for the amount of content it does have though.

I've had Netflix for well over a year now and it's a great product. I have spent far too long watching all of the TV series it has. If you are looking for just movies then it isn't that great, its real strength is definitely TV shows. Breaking Bad, Dexter, Suits, Sons of Anarchy etc. give you months of entertainment which make the subscription price pretty insignificant.

I have had it off an on for probably 8 years I would say. Its cheaper than getting movies on demand which is what I assume you are talking about and far far cheaper than going to a theater. Think I pay $7.99 a month or £4.99.

Whilst it is much cheaper I still prefer going to a cinema.

I've seen Breaking Bad and needed a new TV show to move onto actually.

Having read some online reviews, it seems none of these services aren't too good for movies as they're added much much later down the line.

I have Netflix for £6.99/month which is unlimited streaming including HD. It's not that great for major films - at least not anything recently released, but anything like that I want I buy on Blu-Ray. Good for sourcing obscure films though and brilliant for C-list zero-budget horror films.

We have netflix. Think we pay £5.99.

Plenty of decent tv shows on there. Some recommendations here...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...-list-of-the-best-TV-shows-on-Netflix-UK.html

Seems US netflix has a better choice of films. But I'm sure you could find something. For me I like to find old, but not necessarily classic, films I've not seen for ages. Watched Pumping Iron the other day.

Might be worth checking out the films forum on here if your thinking of getting it. They recommend some more obscure films you may not of heard of.

If you won't miss £5.99 a month then it's good value for passing a bit of time.

I've got Netflix and pay £5 a month. This allows usage on 4 devices. My son and daughter both live away at Uni and have it on their laptops. One account is on our smart TV and one on my tablet. That means all 4 of us can watch different things at the same time ( in 3 different cities!).

    I think that's good value.

Films aren't new but plenty of good older stuff.

    Box sets are excellent.

Some good documentaries and obscure stuff an' arl.

    Well worth me fiver.

Although thinking about it, no other bugger ever offers to contribute towards paying for it.

    £60 a year it's costing me.

    **** that. I'm cancelling.

I use the amazon/lovefilm option. Streaming is on a par with Netflix but i get this options for the DVD postal part of the deal. We pay a fair bit for it £13pm but get three discs simultaneously with no restrictions. It works for us but only as i send every disc back quickly. I reckon i get through 12-15 DVDs a month. The cost is the same as buying one DVD i guess

If you have an Android phone, or tablet, you can download an app called Showbox - you get all the latest TV series and new (relatively) films you'll ever need, best of all ........ it costs nothing.

Netflix is fantastic, start off by watching Lillyhammer, love that show and you never hear it hyped up, funny as hell

If you're looking for something like Breaking Bad then I can highly recommend Sons of Anarchy. I started watching it recently and am racing through it, think it might be my favourite show yet (and I've watched pretty much everything out there)

I assume you have watched Firefly? If not you should. The American version of the Bridge is pretty good, although the issues in it might not be to relevant to you. Dont suppose you have seen the Walking Dead? Not sure if its on there. Hannibal is one of my favorite shows you should check that out to if you havent yet.

O/t but is it me or is Breaking Bad THE most overrated tv show of all time? Im not saying its ****e - its just completely average. There's nothing clever, witty or boundary pushing about it and I genuinely don't get what people go so ****ing ballistic about.

    Total emperor's new clothes.

Back to the OP and Netflix is just alright.

Each to their own I guess. I thought BB it was great.

Girl at work streams stuff and she swears by Icefilms. I used to stream years ago, but prefer to dl now. If I streamed I'd probably use XBMC or Kodi as it is now called. Works on Windows, Linux and Android. Never been daft enough to buy an iThingy but probably on there too.

I have unlimited data on Three which is usually 4G so download everything onto my phone. 3 times quicker than KC Broadband and uncapped.

Current TV watchlist is Arrow, Flash, Sons of Anarchy, Gotham, Constantine, Person of Interest, Sleepy Hollow, Blaclist and Homeland. Usually available for downloading the morning after they've aired. Also films, but prefer TV.
