Pathetic, gluttonous excess given the abject poverty or reduced circumstances three quarters of the world lives in and an opportunity for supermarkets to also stock the shelves with more unnecessary western products, junk food of **** nutritional value to nurture our protuberant little pig bellies. As if they need more of that. The local supermarkets around here are 90% stocked with the stuff, with the exception of the fresh food aisle which is usually meekly shoved off to one side. Look at that picture you posted, what the **** even is it?? Some nostalgia induced ****ing card designer's Starbuck induced dreamland scenario of an ideal Christmas?? It's just a vacuous image that has no basis in the contemporary reality and is designed to appeal to an already overly sentimental and stupid populous who just want to go 'awwwww it's so lovely isn't it'. **** christmas. **** the big brands and companies who are going to shove it down our throats for the next three months on tv, the radio and in the stores by trying to sell us (and mostly succeeding) these anodyne, saccharine, manipulative, nonsensical, cynical and unreal images.
tomorrow i am off to bank to meeting on insurance. i am then taking the opportunity to look for ym missus' chirstmas presents. I have a digital slr camera already and a little set of her favored body creams... I am thinking necklace, shoes and then her brand of make up.... any other ideas?
