From what looked like a cruise has now turned into an almighty pileup. 3-0 up at home and its now 3-3. Just imagine a better attacking side!
The day this lizard face gets the fack out my club is the day I will go back to the Emirates.... Feels like a defeat...
Even though Anderlect were gifted 2 of those goals, there are no excuses for being 3-0 up to drawing 3-3. Our team ****ing crumbled when they got one back and that is unforgivable, it keeps happening time and again and it's turned what should have been a comfortable victory into a really deflating night. Not happy at all
So annoyed to only get a draw today after cruising to a 3 goal lead. Looked like we might even add to our lead. Then they got an offside goal, followed by a penalty from minerals slip. At 3-2 we got nervy and it felt they might get an equaliser, which they did. I think we were shocked to find ourselves only a goal ahead all of a sudden and it took us a while to pull ourselves together. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean much, we were unlikely to top the group even with a win today and we are still five points clear of anderlecht meaning a single point from Galatasaray or Dortmund guarantees our qualification. Even if we lose our remaining games we have more than likely already qualified.
We'll still qualify. Still we've thrown away winning the group. Midfield fell apart without Arteta and the offside goal was shocking. We still should have ground it out so that's frustrating.
The only silver cloud is that it won't affect our position in the group. But **** me that collapse is unforgivable, even though 2 of those goals were gifted to them. We really need a DM who will grab the game by the scruff of the neck and make sure we keep the ball. To be honest we had been giving silly balls away all night and in the end we got punished. If we do that against, Real or Bayern we will be royally ****ed !
But ultimately does getting out of the group get you excited any more? Do you have any genuine expectation that we'd have any chance of beating any of the seven group winners that we'd come up against? This sort of result is Arsenal. It's not something we're going to be improving from. This is just our level with Wenger in charge. So we just put up with it for 2-3 years
I thought Arteta was playing really well and him being replaced by flamini (and being injured in the lead up to the offside goal) was the turning point, we didn't quite look the same after that.
I guess qualify for a right royal hammering... Really wonder why we even go to this competition? Really painful to see our deficiencies exposed... Cannot hold on to a 3 nil lead at home... I really feel for the fans who turned up to watch this shambles... I dread to think what would happen if we're to get into the next round... Then again I can see us losing both games.
Anything can happen in the knockout rounds. Obviously if we get bayern or Madrid I won't be particularly confident but you just never know with football! For now though qualifying is the priority. We can worry about who we are playing and our chances later when it comes to it!
We can lose both games and still qualify I always enjoy champions league nights whether we win or not even when we have gone out in recent years we've had some great games. Personally the CL games are some of my favourites. Even if we don't have the best chances of winning it! At the moment all we can do is qualify and see where we are at.
