He cost us 7 million and seems to have settled well for someone in that price bracket. Has bagged 5 premier league goals and 1 other...totalling 6 for the campaign so far and 2 assists. That's not bad going for a midfielder. However I don't think he gets talked up as much as others such as Lamela, Eriksen and Kane of late. He doesn't seem to be getting the hype but for me has been our best player this season so far with all things considered. So would like to give Chadli a heads up and hope he gets fashionable enough to get the praise he deserves.

If he is under performing then he is doing it at the same rate as the rest...and I think once he learns to use his frame he will become more prominent in a Premier league environment....a snip at 7 million.

Can't disagree with much of that. With a more motivated team around him, he'd be even better.

Chadli for £7mm or Lamela for £30mil?

Chadli's been our one good PL finisher. If he keeps up this pace, he'll be worth 30 million.

Lamela's been quite good overall, I think. Three goals and seven assists is doing just fine, even if most of those were in the cups. He's turned, what, four of our cup games, and had the assist for Chadli's goals against Arsenal and Aston Villa.

One of our biggest problems is that every single one of our players likely to score wants to score from the left: Chadli, Kane and Eriksen all want to cut in on their right foot, and Lamela likes to lash left footed shots across the goal. Ade and Soldado don't seem to have a very strong preference, but they score more from the left as well, I think. I was going to say Lamela would be doing even better if he played on the left, but that would displace Chadli and/or Kane, who have been doing very well.

When I first saw him at Spurs I thought that he would eventually be a real bargain for £7m. It's taken him a while but he appears to be on the way to proving that.

The reason he's not getting the praise is that there's a bit of the Sigurdsson/Dempseys about him in that he's scoring but his general contribution isn't great. I'd take goals over performances at the moment but I think it's easy to see why people aren't gushing over his form this season.

Eriksen was talked up because he was the best of our signings last season but I don't think he's been getting much praise this season because frankly he doesn't deserve it.

Kane is getting praise because he's our top scorer and whilst he's considered a striker, he hasn't actually been played their much(which is similar to Chadli) and his overall contribution to games is unquestionable even if you take out the goals.

Lamela's a funny one, like Kane he's doing the job in the cups and it feels like it's only a matter of time until he starts producing regularly in the PL. He flatters to deceive really, just offering enough to have us dreaming of him becoming a great player for us without actually putting in a big performance in one of the more meaningful games.

I think Chadli's been really good (though can be MUCH better), he's been involved in most of our attacks and has been the best of the attacking midfield trio, 5 goals and an assist in 9 games (he missed our first game) is impressive by anyone's standards. I think Cove mentioned last year that he may need a season to adapt and he's being proved right. I saw Chadli a bit in the Eredivisie for Twente as I started looking out for him after his impressive displays against us in the CL, did seem a player with a better future than the Eredivisie back then so here's hoping he can continue the goal scoring form and all round play.
Although it looks like I maybe wrong on a few, some of the lads of last season are starting to step up which I believed they would if given enough time. Chadli obviously being the most improved but Lamela and Capoue (for the most part) have been good in games, Eriksen hasn't been as impressive style-wise but still has 3 League goals to his name which isn't a bad return. Soldado and Chiriches haven't impressed whereas Paulinho can't even get game time. 4 out of 7 isn't so bad, especially as all still have a lot of room for improvement too.

    his 5 goals :

the 1st goal in a 2-2 draw against Sunderland to get us off to a good start
the opening goal during the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates.
the equaliser that sparked off a 2-1 end of game victory against villa on Sunday.
the first goal to get us onto our way to our biggest win this season, against QPR, later adding a 2nd.
and the assist coming for the goal that led to us beating a very in form Southampton.

id say he adds a lot more than goals....he pulls his finger out when it matters...that's a quality which seems to be lacking with most of our squad....a skill quite easily over looked as oppose to some flair and excitement pleasing to the eye.

    You can't complain for £7M - a bargain.

But what is he? He doesn't seem to be a midfielder, winger or striker, but a hybrid of all three.

He's also a good quiz question answer having played for both Morocco and Belgium in internationals.

Perhaps "He's a player ten years ahead of his time" some of the older posters will know who said this about a certain West Ham player who later joined Spurs (no, not Defoe)

do we think the emergence of Chadli as a premier league force, the fact Pulis can't get a job and the fact Steven Fletcher is scoring goals is the reason why Boss has disappeared?

Chadli seems to be another frustrated striker, to me. His service isn't good enough as a winger, he's always cutting in and he doesn't offer enough support to his fullback.
He looks a threat in front of goal and probably suits Pochettino's favoured 4-2-3-1, but we don't have enough players providing service at the moment.

Chadli's posed naked for Cosmopolitan to support cancer research. Not sure how the two are connected, to be honest.
I'd post a picture here for the ladies and anyone else who'd be interested, but I'm not sure how it would be received by our new no-nipple policy, I'm afraid.

Here's another trivia question: what PL goals have Spurs scored in 2014-2015 with their feet from the right of the keeper?

With 4231 do you even HAVE wingers? It seems to me that the job of the "wide" men of the 3 is to sort of tap it around a bit just outside the area and cut in and get shots away. Defending seems to be optional.

I dunno. With this formation you surely need all of the 3 to both create and dribble and pass and score. Chadli looks strong on the break and can finish. But I'm not sure it that's the skill set required for his role which is normally more of a creative player than a big guy with a dodgy touch who can knock them in.

We are so bereft of skill and guile now that Chadli is suddenly one of our most important players for the simple reason that he can score.
