If it was all down to Suarez then you have to go a step further back and ask was Rodgers ability to keep hold of Suarez for the year a fluke, luck or good management? The answer to that question may be the answer to the OP's question.
What were the chances of 4 result-changing incorrect offside decisions at the Etihad, all of them in Man City's favour? #notluckjustbribery
Suarez has already said just a week or so ago that he was moving to Juventus but Rodgers convinced him to stay
Suarez played in weak teams until he came to the PL, he always had the ability, sure his record with Ajax was excellent and everyone said "oh lets see if he can do it in the prem" so that doesn't add up at all, he just continued his goal scoring feats in the PL to prove it was not all down to the weaker league he played in. We can't score goals, that is not down to Suarez leaving, it is down to our forwards being piss poor and or injured and our tactical ineffectiveness that would make use of who we ahve got available. I think Balotelli would have bagged a few playing for Chelsea this season. We've only conceded 3 more than you lot have but you have scored twice as many as us or more
I just cannot believe it had anything to do with foul play. More likely to be home sides getting more 50-50 decisions. Just like we get more of those at Anfield.
The 'offside' goal that wasn't offside at the Etihad was pretty blatant though, you don't see too many of those decisions anywhere.
LFc still got 84 points so despite any other things occuring like utd doing one or cheslea being "in transition" that points tally merited what it got........ that tally is down to a 31 goal blast from square in 33 games and sturridge... i don't believe its expectation weighing down i feel its a bad summer 2013 window an non existing january 14 window and an awful 2014 summer window that didn't do enough to improve the team... and in suarez's case replaced with a player so unsuited its untrue. SASAS cover up for rodgers big time. expectation has nothing to do with that. if we'd got more than sahko in in summer 2013 and then ot bascially replaced him in summer 2014 and alienated him.... well we'd have more players settled in to rely on. thats my view... we bought a lot of more young players who are not up to the level immediately so it all adds up.
Yes he proved that he wasn't just doing it in the weak leagues but Liverpool could never have expected him to be so good. If so, there would have been other clubs lining up to buy him. He was a risk due to his poor discipline and the fact he was coming from a weak league (see Kezman) but it paid off. Not scoring goals is clearly down to Suarez leaving. He was your top scorer and most effective attacking playing by a mile. Coupled of course with your managers inability to replace him with quality. Balotelli, what was he thinking?
Italian clubs rarely offer big money nowadays so Brod probably persuaded Luis to stay because we'd have been to do ****all with £10m! Not that he's done anything with £120m either like
I like your use of the word 'persuaded' - I got the feeling it was more like he was tied to a chair, bound and gagged and threatened with having to watch Evra's best footballing moments - if he didn't stay ....... or something like that
The Sterling one was nowhere near a 50/50 But yeah just being absolutely **** at their jobs is far simpler #notallhashtagsareserious
nah nah nah... c'mon lads LFc bought him cos he was a **** up for ajax and they wanted rid despite him being a hugely hot property. the world cup in 2010 showed what he was all about. nobody was lining up cos the gobshite bit and drew blood of a rival player! we gave him such a platform that barca paid 75mil for a third time offender. harry "big liar and tax cheat" redknapp made out he was trying to sign suarez for spurs before he went to LFC. there was also talk aorund the time. If i was bothered i could prob look back at transfers in 2011 and find some roumours or others. LFc only got him cos he chewed up a guy and we lost over half a year of him players for issues but still got one great year out of him and 50+mil profit.
So maybe it's John Henry who we should thank for our great season - no fluke at all. He may have even strong armed BR into keeping him - interesting.
His career was a natural progression consistently moving to bigger clubs, until he got the deal he wanted. The very fact he was playing in those weak leagues is why barca and co never went for him, you just don't get the credit or exposure. Yes he improved but really, his finishing is what improved, otherwise he adpated to the league which was always going to take a little time. He's not the first player of quality to not get picked because he was in a weak league, Ronaldo was in Portugal, yet barca and Real were not looking for his sig until he got 30+ in a season in the PL. Suarez also got 31 goals in the PL and got his move to a Spanish giant. Any player that scores bags in the PL or La Liga will be targets The PL was the shop window we know it is for players who want to get to Real, Ask Bale Ronaldo Suarez and a host of other players.
You cant fluke a 2nd place finish over a 39 game season lol To be honest It pains me to say It but you played the most entertaining footy the Prem has seen for a long while and I think you would have been up there even If Utd and Spurs hadn't gone Into free fall and I was readying myself for you to win It I couldn't believe that you didn't cross the line first tbh.... Of course Im fooking glad you didn't though
