Not massively familiar with them TSS to be honest - but yes, if you two are giving glowing references I'll certainly go check them out. Music is VERY small, so I'm quite sure I'll know someone who knows someone who works with them. In the meantime, if you're REALLY bored after the football tonight, Fable is being interviewed on Juice FM 107.2 sometime after 10. You can also listen here - http://www.juicebrighton.com - it's her first ever radio interview, so don't expect much (though they're also playing a couple of her tracks).
Fable on now. That first track of hers really ought to be covering a scene in Manhunter, as referred to the other day. Mind you, that film had some very striking and haunting music behind it.
Haha, we were talking about Bond themes today. Funnily enough, I think the second track sounds better on radio.
Just got back from the open mic at Godney out in the wilderness. What a fantastic evening! No less than 22 different acts playing, so only 2 songs each, as they have to stop at 11 for some reason. Me and my mate did "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" which both went down well. There were some brilliant people playing, topped by a young lad called Ed who was working behind the bar but came out to do a stonking version of "Crow on the Cradle" into which he'd inserted a rap section about keeping music live. Absolutely sensational, and quite rightly brought the house down. He'll go far, I confidently predict. Hopefully I've persuaded him to come to our open mic at the Old Down Inn at Emborough on Thursday. Anyway, that was the best birthday since, well, since they started having numbers greater than 2 at the front.
Update: 46,000 tickets sold so far for England ladies vs Germany at Wembley, being played at the end of this month.
Don't you ever go to bed DTLW.......? Or am I just getting old.......on second thoughts don't bother to answer that
Weird rankings (don't try saying that too fast. Palace at the top though, agreed, and who'd of thought. It never used to be like that, always a very safe, nice ground to visit. I love that Man Utd have "introduced a singing section"! How do they do that? Have auditions? And as for Liverpool and, "You'll never Walk Alone", it might be from the heart but it all comes across a somewhat stage-managed these days.
I bet it was. I left the house an hour later than you and I was half frozen by the time I got to work.
Good in theory but you never want people who are too good, especially if you have to follow them! I do quite a few open-mics, sometimes on my own (which people are happy to follow) and sometimes with the band. The problem is that for a couple of songs it is a lot of setting up for 5 people.
Sounds like a top night, glad you enjoyed it Chilco, which version did you perform "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" ?, was it the fast Animal's version? or slowed down like Costello or Joe Cocker? Probably my favourite version is the original by Nina Simone. Love "Harvest Moon" too, are you the Vocalist, Guitarist or both?
I suppose our version is somewhere between the Animals and Joe Cocker but I sing the bridge a bit like Elvis Costello! I'm the singer, and play a bit of guitar to give my hands something to do while I'm singing, my mate plays the lead bits when we're playing as a duo. I'd love to do a lot more Neil Young stuff, but most of it's too high for my voice unfortunately!
